VICTIMS and LIBERATORS vs. VILLAINS and LIARS
various ^ | August 9, 2003

The press is failing our troops, our country, the Iraqi people.

People have to choose who to trust:

1) Those who continue to throw stumbling blocks in the path of our troops daily:

using civilians as human shields
military units dressed in civilian clothes
fake surrender ambushes
arming with chemical weapons
systematic rape and torture
execution and (possible) castration of POW's
forcing soldiers to fight under threat of death to their families
placing military targets in hospitals
using ambulances for military transport
suicide bombings
attacking their own population
gassing their own population
cutting off water to their own cities

vs.

possibly bombing a market by accident

Guess which draws more protest from the media, the UN and Amnesty International?

2) Or we can look at facts backed up by those who know careless words can kill, and who risk their lives for strangers:

8 Last week in Iraq - a recap of our military's outstanding security efforts

The last time the Iraqi people dared rise up against their terrorist oppressors, they were gassed and murdered by the tens of thousands. The Iraqi people need to know WE are not going to abandon them this time. This administration and these troops have been working to reassure the Iraqi people from the beginning.

Even knowing the history of the Iraqi people and the difficulty of our mission, the press sows fear and dissent in Iraq daily.

Imagine if America's press took America's side? If the would be defenders of the downtrodden actually investigated the bad guys?  Our press could help us find those who mass-murdered thousands - or track down one Ba'athist loyalist intent on murdering an American soldier - a soldier who's own courage and sacrifice gives reporters from every civilized nation the freedom to criticize even him. Our press could help save lives, promote freedom, tell the truth about America. They could help heal a nation. Instead, they side with the oppressors, terrorist-appeasers and those who want to weaken America on the world stage.

Look closely at the daily press reports. Remember the press before the war. Remember who and what the press chose to promote (Ritter, UN, Chirac) and defend (Galloway, Saddam Hussein, Susan Sarandon).  Remember their attacks on the President, their pro-UN stance, their promotion of the ANSWER rallies - before France and Germany used the organized protests as an excuse to jump ship.

Look closely at those who want America to fail in Iraq. Look closely at the left.

The press said American troops couldn't topple Saddam and liberate Iraq without a mass-humanitarian-environmental crisis. WE DID.

No apologies followed, not even a simple thank you to those in harm's way.

The press has already succeeded in convincing much of the world that it should be a breeze to stabilize a nation brutalized and neglected for over 24 years in less than six months. Ludicrous! Has there ever been a comparable attempt to free a nation - or such a success story?  The prevention of 5000 deaths a month at the hands of Saddam's regime matters, as does the freedom - messy or no - of an entire population. Find a similar effort where the liberators worked to establish stability for the people of a nation after they defeated a tyrannical ruler, and where these liberators then worked to make sure the people of the nation ruled their own country - unlike the many who sow dissent and deceive the world daily for personal power's sake.

If the wilful, selective, daily negative reporting by partisan propagandists, the daily drip, drip of defeatism by deceitful anti-Bush activists who ignore the many daily successes of our troops in Iraq, ignore the victims of rape, torture and terror - while handing their mighty pens to the rapists, torturers and terrorists - isn't a crime against humanity, what is???

The troops in Mosul get their news about Baghdad from the NY Times, CNN and The Observer, too. It absolutely effects their perception, gives false hope to their enemies - endangers their lives.

The pre-war-war-post-war "news" coverage re. Iraq has proven that this war is not simply about Saddam loyalists vs. the freedom-loving Iraqi people, it's about real Iraqi VICTIMS and US-Coalition LIBERATORS vs. VILLAINS (Saddam loyalists, terrorists, criminals) and LIARS (press, pols, ambitious tyrants).

VOICES OF FREEDOM
Quotes from the grateful Iraqi people. Y

The talented journalists who put out the powerful lies daily around the world could do a far better job of putting these facts together, but they're busy playing their same old game of deceive, distract, divide in a deliberate campaign to defeat our efforts in Iraq.

This isn't a game. Real lives are committed to a noble and difficult mission. The future of real families and communities - a whole nation is at stake. Those who planned, carried out, cheered on or excused the murder of thousands of innocents on 9-11 are paying attention - along with those who fought and prayed a lifetime for freedom in Iraq.

Bypass the press. Show friends and neighbors the CENTCOM detailed logs. The reaction usually is, "why weren't we told about this?" Multiply the response by over 150 reports over four months....and what the press is doing to our troops is far worse than the heat, sand, or facing some of the nastiest lowlifes in history. The troops can handle that. They can do little about a press determined to misinform the world - except to tell their side and hope someone reads their e-mails, listens to their stories - and passes them on.

The very least we can do for our troops is to tell the world about their successes. We can remind our misinformed neighbors that during our worst month in Iraq post-BLD (Baghdad Liberation Day), July, we lost 39 troops - 28 to hostile acts - in a nation the size of California, with over 24 million newly freed Iraqis - 5 million in Baghdad alone. Remind them that during our worst month in Iraq,  those 39 troops along with their 150,000 or so honorable comrades on the ground across Iraq were involved in major aggressive operations - protecting the civilized world by removing multiple bad guys, bad guy weapons, and funds across Iraq. Remind them that this worst month included the revenge of the supposed Big Bad Ba'athist loyalist scum after our troops took out the two Hussein sadist-spawn. Remind them of who's living in Saddam's palaces, who's the best-trained, best-equipped and best and brightest fighting force in the world. Ask your friends why the press continues to insult our troops and hype Hussein, to terrorize the Iraqi people and aid our enemies by implying that Saddam Hussein has any hope of a future in Iraq.

Saddam is not coming back.

We are not leaving until the Iraqi people have a Constitution of their own and have elected leaders of their own choosing.

Anyone promoting an opposite agenda, a 24/7 picture of gloom and doom while pretending to care about freedom, human rights and national security is defrauding the world. The press demeaned our troops, idolized the bad guys and lied to the world during Vietnam as well - and Communism spread throughout Asia - with the resulting untold deaths and oppression.

We now have access to the primary news sources through the internet. We can fight for our troops and the Iraqi people on the homefront by giving them a voice.

Thanks for sharing the news with others, Roughneck. (^:

I forget our FoxHole - hidden at VetsCoR where scrolling lurkers and visiting troops aren't likely to find it. They post the CENTCOM links daily, and much more. We need 'em out front. We need all the help we can get getting the real news out about the war. It is the campaign issue for 2004.

Hillary and most Dems are siding with the UN, and anti-Coalition Old European socialism - preferring a weakened America on the world stage.

I think we could unite 2/3rds of America around that one campaign issue.

More clarity here from the front; if this was posted before I couldn't find it and the letter should be posted again. Please read and pass on.

From one of the Grunts on the scene.

Iraq Report Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003

TO ALL : This is a response to a message that said rules of engagement (ROE ) were causing Army deaths and did not apply to the Marines. No, it's not true. The ROE are dictated by CJTF-7, not individual commanders, and the rules are the same for Army and Marines. We are each required to be armed at all times.

The two magazine rule is that you must have at least two magazines on your person at all times, this helps when you're engaging the enemy. Most people carry at least three pistol mags and seven rifle mags respectively.

Both Army and Marine units openly display their weapons. They both shoot when threatened also. Several attacks have been thwarted by Army and Marine personnel shooting first. We're also much better shots than the enemy. They tend to spray and pray, while we tend to just shoot them.

The Army has more attacks because their AOR encompasses Baghdad and the surrounding areas where the bulk of the attacks have taken place. I've noticed the press does a poor job in reporting military response to these ambushes.

The usual 'real' military report reads: " Five IZ (Iraqis) fired AK-47s and RPGs at patrol (or convoy), soldiers (or marines) returned fire resulting in 3 KIA, and 1 WIA, 1 escaped. Enemy RPGs missed, AK fire ineffective, no US casualties."

We do take some casualties, but we are very effective at counter-firing at the ambushes. Our aggressiveness has proven very effective.

The enemy is primarily made up of insurgents from Iran and Syria who hire Iraqis to attack coalition soldiers, not disgruntled Iraqis who are mad that their electricity is not on all day yet. They provide them with AKs and RPGs and send them on their way with a promise of cash after the attack.

They have even give motorcycles to kids which they are allowed to keep if they ride by a coalition check point and drop a grenade. After one such attack, we found out how easy it was to shoot people off motorcycles. You can hear them from a long way off and shoot them long before they get within grenade dropping distance.

We have good leaders, and they're responding aggressively and well to the attacks, they emphasize that everyone must engage the enemy whenever they show themselves. The kids here are excited to do their job, and they do it well, with the proper weapons and lots of ammo. We go out with M2 50 cals and MK-19 automatic grenade launchers mounted on our vehicles. We carry SAWs, M-203s, M-16s, and M9s. We also carry several different types of grenades and use everything as needed.

We read press articles on the net that have no resemblance to reality every day. The press lies, they make things up, and they misrepresent things to forward their own interests. It would be funny, except that so many people [around the World] believe them.

Take care, XXXX

Outstanding letter, yoe. Thank you for posting it.

Would you consider posting it as a separate thread? The troops need all the exposure they can get. They keep repeating themselves - the press isn't listening.

Freepers are listening.

This letter deserves mass-exposure, I agree.
