Hillary Rodham Clinton for her book Living History, $28.00 Hardcover, ISBN 0743222245, at a Rainy Day Books Series Event on Tuesday, August 12, 2003, 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Unity Temple on The Plaza, 707 W 47th Street, Kansas City, Missouri.

Purchase 1 Copy of Living History from Rainy Day Books and Receive 1 Booksigning Event Ticket. THIS SPECIAL EVENT SOLD OUT THE FIRST ON SALE DAY. NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT A TICKET.

ANNOTATION: Hillary Rodham Clinton is known to hundreds of millions of people around the world. Yet few beyond her close friends and family have ever heard her account of her extraordinary journey. She writes with candor, humor and passion about her upbringing in suburban, middle-class America in the 1950s and her transformation from Goldwater Girl to student activist to controversial First Lady.

Living History is her revealing memoir of life through the White House years. It is also her chronicle of living history with Bill Clinton, a thirty-year adventure in love and politics that survives personal betrayal, relentless partisan investigations and constant public scrutiny.

Hillary Rodham Clinton came of age during a time of tumultuous social and political change in America. Like many women of her generation, she grew up with choices and opportunities unknown to her mother or grandmother. She charted her own course through unexplored terrain—responding to the changing times and her own internal compass—and became an emblem for some and a lightning rod for others.

Wife, mother, lawyer, advocate and international icon, she has lived through America’s great political wars, from Watergate to Whitewater.

The only First Lady to play a major role in shaping domestic legislation, Hillary Rodham Clinton traveled tirelessly around the country to champion health care, expand economic and educational opportunity and promote the needs of children and families, and she crisscrossed the globe on behalf of women’s rights, human rights and democracy. She redefined the position of First Lady and helped save the presidency from an unconstitutional, politically motivated impeachment.

Intimate, powerful and inspiring, Living History captures the essence of one of the most remarkable women of our time and the challenging process by which she came to define herself and find her own voice—as a woman and as a formidable figure in American politics.

My daughter and I are going to do a duo devil FReep.
The devil and his daughter, both of us in costume.
I plan on using some signs such as

HILLARY? SWEETY? with my daughter holding a sign that says, MOM?
On the flip side will be HILLARY, COME HOME! with the daughter holding one that reads, WE NEED YOU!

How's that sound?

Is anyone else going to be there to FReep Hitlery in Kansas City?
I checked with the police and city government about demonstrating and they said that if we didn't block the sidewalk and were on the sidewalk we were good to go.
My daughter and I will be down there between 4:30 and 5:00 PM.

I missed the opportunity today, here in St. Louis...had to work.

The local "newscast" {cough, cough} said there were no "protesters" there.

We want to be there if she pulls her 'show up early' routine like she did a couple of other places.

Love to, but I'm in Branson. Don't know which feeling is strongest: disappointment I'm unable to freep Hellery, or relief at being 200 miles from her heinieness.

I am stuck at work until too late. I am astonished that this is being done at Unity temple on the Plaza. Had I paid attention sooner, I might have been able to stop it. Makes me wonder what kind of staff we have at Unity temple. I know they are a separate entity, so I don't know how much influence I would have had. I just checked the bulletin boards and they don't even have any announcements of this happening. Figures.

I will post an after FReep report when we get back tonight.

It was there this morning. I checked personally.
Maybe they pulled it after hearing of the FReep.

Not the boards at Unity on the Plaza, but here at Unity Village.

I would not have wanted to stop it. Just protest it when it happens. Of course, if it was at my religious site, I would NOT have wanted this author there.

I think that Rainy Day Books has a lot of booksignings at the Unity Temple. Is that right? Is this the Unity that is headquartered or originated in Springfield, MO? (I went to a service there with a relative over 15 years ago.)

Am I right in thinking that you a member and don't want your faith associated with this scoundrel?

Yes, they do. I think they publish many of the books that Unity sells.

Is this the Unity that is headquartered or originated in Springfield, MO? (I went to a service there with a relative over 15 years ago.)

No. Unity originated over a hundred years ago, in downtown Kansas City. The Fillmores had a place there where they had continuous prayer and the 'lighted window'.. kind of where the idea of keeping a candle lit came from. Then the Fillmores found this property, right here between Kansas City, Raytown and Lee's Summit. It is it's own city and is called UNITY VILLAGE. We have our own water supply, post office, fire department, etc. Unity Village used to be a totally self sufficient community with it's own cattle, fields, etc. We have two lakes, swimming pool, golf course, tennis courts, hotel, motel, restuarant, flower gardens, 1400 acres of land, fountains, chapels, World Visitor's Center, etc.

Am I right in thinking that you a member and don't want your faith associated with this scoundrel?

First, Unity is non-denominational. There is no 'church' and no crosses anywhere on the property. Second, I do not attend church services that are held here in the visitor's center on Sunday.

BUT, I have worked here for over 10 years, and believe in the power of group prayer, and the essence of what used to be in UNITY MAGAZINE.

Unfortunately, the Board has taken a new direction and it sucks. Unity Mag. is now outsourced to some idiot in California and we have had people cancelling subscriptions due to some of the articles. I used to thrive on the contents of the mag, now I use it to wrap fish. Unity is going downhill, and all the workers here know it is only a matter of time before we all lose our jobs. The board is hiring upper management and consultants (scores of them) while laying off the production staff. Morale is at a century low-point. They took away the yearly company picnic, all bonuses to employees, now they want us to donate our paychecks.

Too bad, as this is one of the most beautiful complexes in the United States, and attracts visitors from all over the world. Someone at the top has lost sight of the original founders intentions and has focused on greed. When one does that, one loses the grace of God.

They have hired over 40 people in MARKETING and think that they can just have a Marketing team and outsource everything.

We try to maintain a positive attitude and belief that God has another purpose in mind that we just don't see yet. I hope so. It would be such a shame to see this all thrown away.
