Maybe there would be reasoned response if the article were written well enough to merit it. Using words like "hath"? Please. That's not even correct anymore. And the dramatic ending where she magically predicts the future. Wow. If I were her I would submit this to the school newspaper ASAP! The staff advisor probably needs to edit/correct it heavilly before it could be worthy of the "Gerber High Gazette".

Time for an E. D. Hirsch cultural literacy moment: Jennings is reprising/paraphrasing the famous message sent by Samuel F. B. Morse in his first test of the telegraph: "What hath God wrought?" (a Bible quote from Numbers 23:23). If you looked up the expression on Google, I'd bet you find zillions of contemporary citations.

And Jennings' prediction of the future seems anything but mystical or magical to me, given her solid expositions of recent history and statistics.

Speaking of all those citations (gay gene myth, suppression of free speech, et al.), I'd say that's the place to start the refutation, not in quibbles over language.
