The border patrol has the legal authority, and the proper training/experience, to stop people and challenge them. These people have no authority to demand anyone prove their citizenship.

You know what, I don't particularly like this situation either. Wehn Glenn Spencer moved to the Arizona border zone, I didn't think it would be long at all before he and those who were arresting illegal immigrants would be charged. But suprisingly they effected thousands of apprehensions without being charged. The INS took those arrested illegals off their hands and returned them to Mexico.
I want the border area cleaned up. So do a lot of other people. This isn't going to be resolved until the government comes to grips with the reality that this IS going to stop one way or another.
I do not advocate any violent end to this, but then I'm not living on the border. Sooner or later some real hotheads (not these people who didn't hurt anyone) are going to hurt someone. When that happens folks like you will say see. And I'll turn to you and say see.
