California's Political Turmoil - Democrats not united on Davis -- and not on Feinstein, either

Whether you call it fraying, floundering or in free fall -- the fact is, Democratic "unity" behind Gov. Gray Davis is anything but united.

And neither is support for putting Sen. Dianne Feinstein on the ballot to save the party in the recall election Oct. 7, when voters must decide the fate of Davis.

Also, look for a "united front" between Huffington and Green Party candidate Peter Camejo.

Just when you think it's already gotten as weird as it possibly could ...

Why in the world would Feinstein give up a cushy seat in the U.S. Senate — where she is responsible for nothing except looking important and shooting her mouth off — to take on what is obviously going to be The Job From Hell for whoever gets it?

Ain't that 'toon the truth. This recall has taken a crazy, wacky life of its own. Big distraction for the 'Rats--diverting resources and keeping the tax and spend debate alive, Big Time. I'm loving it...

The same reason she's done what she has before: She knows that she'll get away with anything pursuing money and power.

Run DiFi, RUN, PLEEEASE!!!
We have a nice, warm jail cell waiting for yoooou!

Yup, when this all started I commented that the worst case for the recall was two years of paralysis. We had nothing to lose.

Agree. The California GOP can hardly sink any lower, so at the very least the recall provides some entertainment plus it does set off some Rat infighting. As the song says, freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.

Paralysis is better than action. Look at the latest budget--they punted 'till next year. On the bright side, the budget is Davis' legacy. Whoever, if the recall goes, takes his place, won't get blamed (although the real blame lies with the Rat Legislature too). In any event, with about a week for filing to go, there sure is a lot of action. Wait until the campaigns start and then hold on. LOL. Gotta run, enjoy the rest of your day....e!

I was polled yesterday on the recall. I never know whose poll it is. (I respond to them all!) My suspicions are that it was a Feinstein or -- get this---Leon Panetta poll! The only Dems the pollster gave me to go up against the Republicans were Feinstein or Panetta. I was never asked to narrow the field on the Republicans in the same manner. But maybe it was Republicans trying to determine which democrat might give them the most trouble. But Panetta????

I haven't the faintest idea why Feinstein would want to run for governor. She has a great job with no real accountability where she can cause as much trouble for President Bush as she wants to. If she became governor, she'd be responsible and accountable for the mess the DemonRATS have made of the state. Being as much of a lib as Davis, she'd be unable to do anything to fix it.

I think the best thing for conservatives to do is make a real joke of the whole mess and vote for Larry Flynt.

As one Democratic pollster told us, when Davis was matched against conservatives such as GOP Rep. Darrell Issa and last year's Republican gubernatorial candidate, Bill Simon, support for firing the governor dropped a few points to about 45 percent.

However, when Riordan -- who is both liberal and well-known down south -- is added to the mix, "just the opposite happens," the pollster said, with support for the recall going up to 55 percent.

In other words, we want someone who will do exactly what Gray Davis is doing, only with a different name and different party label.

Are Californian voters idiots, or are they morons, or are they just brain dead? Figure it out, you conservative Californians; if you say, "We're staying and fighting and going down with the sinking ship," rest assured that if you stay and fight, you will be going down with the sinking ship.
