Shackled. Beaten. Abused. (but fun to look at, none the less)

Poster girl ... Australian model Imogen Bailey appears in a poster posing naked
in shackles with whip marks across her back for a campaign by the People for
the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The photo is part of an advertising
campaign aimed at drawing attention to the abuse of elephants in Thailand for
the tourist trade. Photo: AFP

I wonder if my wife would let me own a pet like that?

LOL! I joke with my wife...I tell her that for my birthday, I want the dancing green chick, from the original (very first) Star Trek w/ Captain Pike.

All that's wonderful if the point of your ad is to show how clever you are as an ad man.

If it was actually an attempt to relieve the alleged suffering of a shackled elephant in Thailand, then it's utterly useless.

Yeah, but what if the point is to get donations to your organization?

I remember her... when I read your post, I immediately remembered that wonderful body (I think she had a face... I was in my early 20's... didn't usually look above the shoulders)

A more scarey thought would be... after 32 years, she would try the green color and dance for you herself... very frightening thought!

So the message is, stop beating elephants and start beating women? Oh, and boycott Thailand?

You really think somebody is going to open their wallet after looking at this?

Why?

What in this ad motivates you to send money to an animal rights organization?

"I am thinking of something when I see this photo, and that something has ZERO to do with elephants"

Got that right! "Doggy" comes to mind though.

You mean Yvonne Craig. Anyway, there are a lot of pictures of her here.

I had a thing for Yvonne(Batgirl), Jeannie, Marsha Brady, Goldie Hawn(Butterflies are Free), Mary Ann, Laura Petrie, and June Cleaver. Guess you could say I was a media kid.

Oh, and Catwoman. Julie Newmar (purrrrr). And Cathy Rigby. And Haley Mills. And Sandra Dee. And Sally Field.

It doesn't necessarily look like the Thai elephant or even the African elephant. I think we may have here the very rare almost extinct White Elephant.

No the green lady in the Capt. Pike Star Trek episode was Susan Oliver. She died in 1990. Yvonne Craig was another one. She is still with us.

Further research shows Yvonne Craig played a green lady in the Star Trek episode Whom Gods Destroy so it is easy to mix her and Susan Oliver appearances up.
