Shackled. Beaten. Abused. (but fun to look at, none the less)

Poster girl ... Australian model Imogen Bailey appears in a poster posing naked
in shackles with whip marks across her back for a campaign by the People for
the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The photo is part of an advertising
campaign aimed at drawing attention to the abuse of elephants in Thailand for
the tourist trade. Photo: AFP

And for those who object to a little skin on a Friday, I give you the hot chicks of Burqa Band:

Afghan girl power ... members of Afghan group, Burqa Band, pose in front of
the ruins of Kabul. The band's lyrics describe ironically the cultural change in
Afghanistan after the end of the Taliban regime. Their music is being played on
many German radio stations and TV. A German firm produced the band in
Afghanistan, where its never been broadcast. Photo: AFP

She's not as smart as an elephant, either.

Honestly, do the people at PETA honestly believe that somebody would look at this picture and think, "I've got to do something about cruelty to elephants in Thailand?"

Maybe it's just me, but my mind just does not make that transistion.

And, posing nude and in shackles is suppose to help elephants how?

I don't know if that is their rationale.
I think what they want is just to get your attention, even if only for a second, and they have achieved that.

But you're right... I am thinking of something when I see this photo, and that something has ZERO to do with elephants. :)

Her tusks are too small to lift a teak log, but she might make a nice pet.

PETA is the logical offshoot of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters. Part of their logic is "in your face", fracturing of the thought process. They have some very clever marketing people, and manage to get massive amounts of coverage on a very small budget. They also understand using sex to sell a point.

I think it's a brilliant ad.

probably not! And be careful cause if she finds out you are even considering it you might end up in shackles for punishment! AND I am sure she will make it NOT fun!!!!
