actually it is "of the making of books there is no end and much study is weariness of the flesh."

and I don't claim the moral highground bennett did in his publications... so it won't impact my career or credibility amongst the christian right...

this gambling thing, won't play well amongst the folks that live in what has been called by liberals "flyover country".

lots of good, conservative christian folks I know are very dissappointed over this.... and in dread over the other shoes that they think are bound to drop.

nobody's perfect. but some pedestals are harder to ascend then others... especially the ones we build for ourselves.

bennett built himself a big one.
he could pour a foundation for a new one, by spending the 8 million he wagered (if that is the amount he flushed that is) on paying women to HAVE their babies, in lieu of abortions... or something "moral" like that.

it would go a long way to redeeming him in the eyes of the the trusting, morally conservative people, who bought his books and the premises ensconced therein.

I have no idea what version of the bible you read...
I do however have a visceral reaction to hypocrites claiming to speak of God's moral virtues, while violating them in a such an apparent manner.

YOU have no moral problem with gambling and wasting millions. Hardly a conservative view to me. But, whatever. If it's okay for you, the rest of us should just bow down and ignore the apparent conflict between what the pharisees SAY and what they do.

YOU buy into the pap if you want.
I see him as a redundant hypocrite... and I expect more is on the way... that is why he is getting so defensive.

shoes are dropping. count on more of them.

I do however have a visceral reaction to hypocrites claiming to speak of God's moral virtues,

Sometimes the best person to seek advice from,(when designing an anti-theft device-for example), are the theives themselves. Muggers, rapists, computer hackers, etc. could all offer valuable insights into various ways of 'protecting' yourself from 'harm'.

Pointing out social and moral decay requires no special degree. We see it all around us. That a large, video gaming personality would like to remain in the spotlight while instructing us on virtue, all-the-while getting paid, irks me, in light of the amounts he's squandered and profitted from, in the name of self-entertainment.

You want to preach to me, then take a vow of poverty. Virtuous acts are not attached to the profit motive unless you can somehow attach virtue to helping a stranded motorist by calling a towtruck and then asking them to pay for the 'minutes used' on your cell phone. This is how I see the man.

"Any thing that is higher or true...dwell on those things...." Paul

I didn't say he didn't have a potential problem. I don't see where he has sinned or taken advantage of any-one. Lots of people may "feel affected by what he has done", but why? The only power the evil ones in this nation really have over the good people in this country is to heap a big guilt trip on conservatives when some-one important to the righteous doesn't always hold up to the rigidly Pharisaic high standards some of the more self righteous prigs have erected for them-selves. I'm not talking about the more obvious problems such as run away drunkeness, adultery, and theft.(only the Clintons are allowed a pass on those)

You do claim the moral high ground over Bennett, or else you wouldn't have said the nasty things you say about him. The worst sort of prigs are those who claim to have the special right to be personally offended at the perceived hypocrisy of others.

You make a statement that Bennett should have spent the 8 million on "poor women so that they could have their babies instead of aborting them" Perhaps you should write him and tell him so, you might even convert him. Of course at roughly 10,000 dollars a birth over ten years that works out to around 800 women helped, that's not counting the cost of actually raising them and feeding, let's see about 300000 dollars per child to age 21, lets see ahh yes 240 million. Sounds like a job that's way beyond Bennett. But why stop there....ect ect.

If more shoes are dropping, so much more the sorrow for the man. Even God takes no pleasure in the destruction of the wicked. The tone you take in your discussions on Bennett is that you would delight to see it!
