NBC: Handling of Sons “Quite Offensive to Islamic Sensibilities”

NBC’s Richard Engel offered a more sweeping scolding than did other reporters of the U.S. for laying out for video cameras the bodies of Uday and Qusay Hussein. He called the decision “controversial” and insisted “all of this has been quite offensive to Islamic sensibilities here. Muslims are generally buried in a simple white shroud without any embalming process at all.”

On Friday’s NBC Nightly News, Tom Brokaw asked Engel in Baghdad: “Richard, as you well know, there’s fresh video tonight as well of the bodies of Saddam’s two sons after they were cleaned up by Army morticians. We want to warn everybody, the images are still very graphic, but are those new images any more persuasive to the Iraqi people?”

Richard suggested the U.S. messed up again: “They are not really more persuasive. But they certainly are more controversial. These bodies were quite radically altered. First, the men were shaved, then putty was used to remodel their faces, make-up was also applied to make them look more life-like. The Americans, however, say these are certainly the men and even displayed a metal plate that bears the identical serial number to a plate that was inserted in Uday’s leg after an assassination attempt in the 1990s. All of this has been quite offensive to Islamic sensibilities here. Muslims are generally buried in a simple white shroud without any embalming process at all, Tom.”

I am off to write to little tommy brokaw right now.

The way to get NBC's attention is to stop watching .. maybe when their ad money slows down alot, they will start to pay attention

That Bagdad cam during the war was a very educating experience of what these so-called reporters were really like

With a lot of Nazism thrown in.

Saddam Hussein is a big Hitler and Stalin fan.

NBC: Handling of Sons ?Quite Offensive to Islamic Sensibilities?

Well thats too damn bad about them, isn't it.

The handling of the Iraqi population (rape, murder, torture, feeding to lions, etc.) by the Baathist Sunni Muslims is highly offensive to WESTERN SENSIBILITIES.

Don't even get me started on this stupid headline.

I don't recall NBC out there defending the "sensitivities" of the Christians when the art gallerys were showing Mary with poop all over her. This was "quite sensitive" to me - but NBC didn't seem to think it was important.

Tell NBC to go take a flying leap!!

Oh yes, the Muslims are offended, according to the media.

I am sure they would never entertain the thought that thousands of Muslims were killed and buried by the Baath party without the formal snd dignified burial ceremony.

At least we cleaned them up. I would have wrapped them in Pig Skin, before I fed them to the HOGS. How the Hell can the IRAQIs be offended by displaying the bodies of two vermin who killed, raped, and plundered so many?
If they are the least bit offended, GOOD. It will set an example of how we should treat the next IDIOT who kills one of our Troops.

HMMMM that was exactly what I said days ago when this issue first came up...let's see...they were murdering, whore mongering, drug abusing alcoholics. ****I guess that will move them right to the front of the line concerning Islamic morals."*****

Or as democratic candidates. . .

The criticism about these pictures being displayed is almost always accompanied by the reminder that the US was disturbed about the pictures of our soldiers being dragged through the streets in somalia. The difference between the 2 events is that in somalia the pictures were about our dead soldiers and how their bodies were abused and in iraq the 2 boys were not dragged through the streets and they were not soldiers, they were policy makers and enforcers of saddam's orders.

I heard that Al-Jezera TV was astonished at the embalmed bodies and the fact that we would allowed them to photograph. They went on TV and showed their film of the dead bodies and apologized to their viewers for not believing the boys were dead.

Aparently this joker at NBC didn't get the memo!

The only thing is, they are only offended by this 'blunder' of ours. They are not put in any state of fear, as had been the case here:

Run them through a shredder with pork guts,

I noticed that they sewed the boys up after the autopsies. I wonder what material the sutures were made of.
