The dumbing down of America

Sept. 11 was indeed a wake up call from Hell. And yet, one year later, the U.S. Postal Service issued an Islamic stamp on Oct. 10, 2002, with the words "EDI" on the stamp which means "Emirates Institute of Diplomacy." Has anyone seen any American stamps being issued in Arab countries?

Wrong. The stamp has "EID" on it, which commemorates the two most important festivals-or eids-in the Islamic calendar: Eid al-Fitr (breaking the fast after Ramadan, which is why it was released on October) and Eid al-Adha (the barbaric animal sacrifice which follows the pilgrimage to Mecca).

I agree that the stamp should never have been issued here, but Evans would be a lot more effective if got his facts straight. (By the way, there is an "Emirates Institute of Diplomacy" in Doha, Qutar -- why the heck Evans thinks that had anything to do with the U.S. Muslim stamp is beyond me.)
