Kobe made more than a mistake

For a few minutes, let's put aside the question of Kobe Bryant's guilt or innocence on sexual assault charges and concentrate on the adultery to which he confessed on July 18.

Adultery is a major cause of the disintegration of the family, and all of the noise about Bryant, a Newport Coast resident, can be boiled down to one perfect comment by a basketball fan who was quoted in the Daily Pilot: "He's an idiot."

"...real men don't cheat on their wives. Real men don't cheat on their wives and then tell them that they are the air that they breathe or their backbone or liver or anything else..."

LOL, their liver, very good.

Honey, you are my liver, and my pancreas! Without you I would be polluted, and never taste the sweetness of life. Oh, yes, and you are my heart, and all the rest of my internal organs. Yea! you are my very entrails. Yuck! you're like something out of CSI! How could I ever have come near you! A bimbo, a bimbo, my kingdom for a bimbo!

It is also very questionable that this is his "only time"! This is the time he was caught & had to admit it but it is unlikely he never cheated before. That is just way too much to believe!

As I stated on another thread...What is going to hurt Kobe the most is his indefensible bad judgement....He could have and he should have walked away....

Using the timeline: "Hey honey. At least I called and said I loved you before I hopped in the sack with her. That's gotta count for something". That phone call reads like a "Do Not Disturb" sign.

Very good article. Maybe if more parents taught their kids some of these things, there would be less problems at home.

Conventional wisdom says that this is not his first time...If he is violent toward women, not the first time...If he is chronically cheating on his wife...not the first time....Luckily, adultery does not land him in jail...Violence against women...That will get him some quality time as the guest of the state...If not now, at some point in the future...

True. When the trial gets underway, there may be "others" to come forward and say, "It ain't so, Kobe, what about you & me?"

Of course, that's what you do. Call and make sure wifey-poo (or mom, or whoever it is you don't want to catch you) is safe at home, and then you know for sure you've got x amount of time to mess up like you want to.

It's just that sometimes this stuff comes back to bite you in the *ss.

I don't think we know enough about the facts of the case to determine if Kobe raped anyone, but as this article demonstrates so well, he sure as hell is stupid.

"Conventional wisdom" or male-bashing feminism? Wisdom as I understand it says to never prejudge anyone or anything, and to not presume based on "ifs". Yet another feminist plays judge and jury, before the trial even begins.

On the other hand, there may be friends of the accuser who say, "she was at a party bragging about the sexual encounter and gleefully describing Kobe's anatomy". And a police officer might even come forward and say she had to be restrained and sent to a hospital "because she was a danger to herself". OOPS, they already did. Dang, she's a credible accuser. wink.

I would venture to guess that every road trip was also a bimbo hunt not only for Kobe, but virtually all pro athletes.

real men don't cheat on their wives. Real men don't cheat on their wives and then tell them that they are the air that they breathe or their backbone or liver or anything else. Real men don't use their wives in front of the media in weepy, desperate, pathetic attempts to seem like good guys. Talk is cheap, action is everything.

Real men show their love by remaining faithful, by staying true to the vows they took before God, family and friends. Real men show their love and respect through the kind of action that doesn't cost any money.
BUMP Excellent article!

Or a better one would be, "Honey, I was just counseling her as a troubled, defenseless intern..."

Steven Smith: "No pro athlete ever quit because he was tired of all the attention and the money."

Not true. NBA player Bison Dele, murdered by his brother in 2002, quit the NBA precisely because he was tired of the attention and the money meant nothing to him. I'm sure there are others examples of pro athletes who felt likewise.

although Kobe did wrong, a sin is a sin so don't judge Kobe so much when you might have commited more sins than he has, and we are not the forgiver anyways

p.s. adultery includes intercourse without being married so if the "alleged victim" is lying about rape she commited adultery too
