Spokesman Says Liza Minnelli, Husband Have Separated
The Associated Press
Published: Jul 25, 2003
NEW YORK (AP) - Liza Minnelli and David Gest, who were married last year in a star-studded ceremony, have separated, Minnelli's spokesman said Friday. Spokesman Warren Cowan said he could provide no other details.
Minnelli and Gest wed in March 2002 with best man Michael Jackson briefly carrying the bride's train. Elizabeth Taylor served as maid of honor.
Hundreds of fans lined Fifth Avenue to watch guests including actors Michael Douglas, Anthony Hopkins and David Hasselhoff, rocker Elton John, TV newswoman Barbara Walters and KISS band member Gene Simmons arrive.
Gossip columnist Liz Smith called the nuptials, Minnelli's fourth, "the kissiest wedding" she's ever seen.
Minnelli danced in happiness at the altar after tying the knot, attendees said.
Newsday reported on its Web site Friday that Minnelli and Gest earlier in the day canceled a Monday appearance on CNN's "Larry King Live." A call to CNN was not immediately returned.
The bride and groom were introduced by Jackson when Minnelli appeared on a Gest television production entitled "Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Special."
Minnelli, daughter of Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli, has won an Academy Award, an Emmy, two Golden Globes and three Tony Awards.
But she has also battled substance abuse, weight gain and a near-fatal bout with encephalitis. Earlier this year, the performer underwent surgery after breaking her kneecap in a fall at a hotel in Italy.

All four of them look like they've been embalmed.

So according to the article, they were scheduled to appear on LKL this coming Monday? What the heck for? Nothing going on in the world, Larry?
All one can feel for Liza is pity for the pathetic life she has lead-partly due to her own choices of friends and husbands.

How could I NOT be on this thread? I feel such a personal closeness to this special couple.
What is going to happen to the 5 kids they just adopted? Do they have to send them back?

They could have "adopted" Liz Taylor. She needs some looking after.
I think she's cut down on expenses by letting some of her assistants go. At this point, she must realize she'll outlive her money.

LOL, you are too funny. And they were allowed to adopt? Now there's a frightening thought.

But I'm nothing like my mother-in-law.
That's what we ALL think.

Looks like the lights are too hot at the wax museum. Reminds me of the reconstruction photo of Uday... he's a dead ringer for Michael Jackson. Will Jacko get custody of the child?

Excuse me, I leave my house in slippers at times, or in non matching shoes. I am not senile, just preoccupied.

If a couple of nice kids like this can't stay married, what does it say about our marriages? I am just totally stunned. Who woulda thunk it?

God, what a freakshow! Like four good reasons NOT to have plastic surgery!
To: Ditter
The couple met each other through Michael Jackson.
Now if that doesn't ring alarm bells, I don't know what will. Actually, let me rephrase that...
They got together because Michael Jackson thought it was a good idea.
* The same Michael Jackson who thought marrying Lisa Marie Presley and then his plastic surgeon's nurse was a good idea
* The same Michael Jackson who thought telling the world he slept in the same bed as Macaulay Culkin was a good idea
* The same Michael Jackson who thought dangling his baby off a balcony was a good idea
* The same Michael Jackson who thought going from looking like a perfectly normal looking black man to... uhhh... whatever he's supposed to be in that wedding photo... was a good idea
* The same Michael Jackson who thought taking his pet chimp Bubbles along when he saw Ronald Raegan was a good idea
* The same Michael Jackson who thought sleeping in an ozygen tent was a good idea
* The same Michael Jackson who decided calling his boss a "devillish" "racist" on national TV was a good idea
* The same Michael Jackson who was surprised when his $20m joke of an album made only $5m - with his few loyal fans buying multiple copies - thought blaming it on Sony was a good idea
* The same Michael Jackson who thought spending a fortune of between $300m - $500m on a private theme park, plastic surgery, and paedophilia lawsuits was a good idea
* The same Michael Jackson who allowed Martin Bashir to make a documentary about him and was surprised when - after spending half a year around Jackson - Bashir concluded that Jackson was some kind of wacko paedophile fruitcake
*The same Michael Jackson who thinks it's a good idea to tell everyone about the big media conspiracy against him to make him look "weird" and "strange"
*The same Michael Jackson who... well, you get the general idea...
In other words, this guy has not had a good idea since about 1987.I'm surprised this marriage lasted as long as it did...

I'm sad... NOT!
It is obvious these two would never work... they're both the negative end of separate magnets.

HMB/Bizarre PING....
If you want on or off this list, FReepmail me!
FYI: This has fast outgrown it's original "charter" and become a home for the truly bizarre. An alternative saying/phrasiology is being sought (and suggestions are very welcome!). Also, like it's "cousin list" the B/C list, it has become a high-volume list.
I'm leaning toward "Just damn," on the suggestion of quite a few folks. I won't make a decision until Sunday. (And thanks to all of you for sending your suggestions!)
