Spokesman Says Liza Minnelli, Husband Have Separated

The Associated Press

Published: Jul 25, 2003

NEW YORK (AP) - Liza Minnelli and David Gest, who were married last year in a star-studded ceremony, have separated, Minnelli's spokesman said Friday. Spokesman Warren Cowan said he could provide no other details.

Minnelli and Gest wed in March 2002 with best man Michael Jackson briefly carrying the bride's train. Elizabeth Taylor served as maid of honor.

Hundreds of fans lined Fifth Avenue to watch guests including actors Michael Douglas, Anthony Hopkins and David Hasselhoff, rocker Elton John, TV newswoman Barbara Walters and KISS band member Gene Simmons arrive.

Gossip columnist Liz Smith called the nuptials, Minnelli's fourth, "the kissiest wedding" she's ever seen.

Minnelli danced in happiness at the altar after tying the knot, attendees said.

Newsday reported on its Web site Friday that Minnelli and Gest earlier in the day canceled a Monday appearance on CNN's "Larry King Live." A call to CNN was not immediately returned.

The bride and groom were introduced by Jackson when Minnelli appeared on a Gest television production entitled "Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Special."

Minnelli, daughter of Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli, has won an Academy Award, an Emmy, two Golden Globes and three Tony Awards.

But she has also battled substance abuse, weight gain and a near-fatal bout with encephalitis. Earlier this year, the performer underwent surgery after breaking her kneecap in a fall at a hotel in Italy.

Are they human!?

Is that one specie or four separate ones?

What could she expect, when she's inviting people like Michael Jackson and Elton John to the wedding? She needs to get some different friends.

Was this operation performed in Singapore where they tried to separate the Siamese twins from Iran?

In a re-read of the article:

"The bride and groom were introduced by Jackson."

(As is Michael Jackson.) That pair had the "kiss of death" from the beginning.

But I'm nothing like my mother-in-law.

And your mother-in-law never lets your husband forget it.

I read that Elizabeth Taylor "forgot" to put on her shoes and entered the church in her terry cloth house slippers!

My biggest fear is that when I die, God will make me share the same cloud with these two.

I'd like to have a witty remark handy, but I really like my mother-in-law, in spite of all her eccentricities. She's never been anything but good to me. Neither one of us can complain about meddling, interfering, catty, instigating mothers-in-law.

Wow! Next Halloween, come on over and meet my mother-in-law! Warn your children ahead of time!

What is that thing, anyway? The one she married. It hardly looks human.

That is what a human looks like after a good "alien" anal probing.

I can't tell which one of them has had more plastic surgery. He's starting to look like that Lion Woman who lives in New York and who has had so much stuff done to her face she looks like a cartoon.

Both seem to have neglected to tell the Surgeon:

"Make me pretty."

Hey, this has been moved to General Interest! I want to lodge a formal protest!

The tragic breakup of Liza and what's-its-name is of great socio-political import!

Ghastly pair! Liza looks like she's made up for Halloween. She had to scape all that paint off with a huge putty knife. I don't know what to say about Gest, he's the ugliest person I've seen in a while. I wouldn't even date that guy. (Yes, I'm a girl deejay.)

Fuzzy house slippers??? LOL! She's senile! Where were her handlers, maids, makeup artist, dressers, housemen, bridal consultants, publicists, limo drivers, boyfriends, ex-husbands, lawyers, groupies & hangers-on? How could they have let this happen?

I wondered the same thing. Where were her handlers? She admitted she'd left the hotel and forgot to put on her shoes. Yeah, she's been senile for many, many years.

I was wondering if you would be on this thread. :) Gee, what a surprise that Liza and David have separated...NOT.
