I am curious as to what properties these microbes may have, if any.

I'm sure that the cave microbes are being picked apart. I suppose the same will happen to the vent microbes. It will remain a monumental task.

I hate to be a cynic, but I don't think it will happen - too much $$ made on treatment; cure is a one time thing. ;)
