Novak does not pretend to be a profound intellectual. He is a newsman and journalist, with a very good reputation for integrity. And while I sometimes disagree with him, I have never heard him set out to smear other Conservatives, or anyone else for that matter.

Read Frum's own comments about his leaving the White House. He said Novak smeared him. Just because you may agree with the "smear" doesn't mean it was true.
