I take nothing away from her....but just what we need, an army of 5'4' 105lb females holding down the enemy.

I'd bet she'd be glad to trade in that medal if it meant she was free from those terrible experiences up to and including such personal atrocities such as rape. Anyone who questions this medal should be ashamed of themselves!

If you don't know even the basics of when a PH is awarded then you are uniquely unqualified to discuss this and the rest of your post is plain stupid.

What for?So they wouldn't have to give her the Medal of Honor?

Your inside knowledge is appreciated. Not inside knowledge...just my opinion. When do the other rescued POW's receive their bronze star?
To: TheGunny
I believ the men and women who died with that convoy already received the bronze star for merit posthumously.
I don't think 5'4" 100 pound 19 year old girls belong in combat theatres but I certainly ain't begrudging her the bronze star.

I remember reading that there were more Bronze Stars awarded for the Granada invasion than there were boots on the ground....guys who never left home getting them, etc...

It has always been the case that while most medals are earned, some are not. And some people who deserve medals don't get them. Nothing in this world is perfect.
I'll give her the benefit of the doubt until I learn differently. She seems like a good, honest, straight kid.

Did she get it with the "V" device for valor?

Anyone who questions this medal should be ashamed of themselves!Questioned it...not ashamed.

Bump for later.
To: CholeraJoe
You are right. She did not get the "V". I thought this was going happen. Some thought it should have been a Silver Star.

We are not doubting the Purple Heart or the POW. But the Broze Star?? According to the reports she was unable to fire a shot, or assist in the defense of her unit. But a Bronze Star for treatment while being a POW? I can't say so. Sorry about that.... Just watch she'll end up being a poster child for the demo-RATS ! [bill clinton saved me .....]
