But at least there's a hint or whispers or rumours about the high-profile figure before a story breaks (for example, the hit piece done on Arnold by Premiere magazine).

Kobe has nothing, absolutely nil is his past that would even cause one to gleen that he'd have the potential to do this.

I hope they both take lie detector tests.

Besides, why would she wait til after she clocked out to go service his room? Certainly, if it was part of her job, she could have done it while she was actually on the clock. Do you do free customer service in your career? And just how far are you willing to go while your not on the job to help a customer? Would you make a housecall?

The story is just odd and it doesn't ring true. Plus, at least we know something about Kobe while we know nothing about this woman except that she was a contestant on American Idol seeking fame.

We need to know more. Normally, I do generalize and cast all athletes in a bad light because of the numerous cases of criminality, but, in this case, I just don't buy it...yet...

"I still have to wonder just why this 19 year old woman went up to Kobe's room by herself at 10PM. No woman with an ounce of brains would put herself in that kind of a situation. You just don't do it."

I think it was her job description, to go provide services to the paying clients.

It is somewhat different from a hotel. She was "the front desk" and did several duties.

She may have been stupid, to provide the normal service, to HIM.

But it is normal for services to be provided to normal customers (eg. those that won't rape the staff).

Being young, shapely, female is NOT a CFM comeon.

Why does a healthy, young man need a staff of three? Is it to keep him out of trouble?

They are the ones that fell down, on their jobs.

Well, for starters, the way you seem to so readily identify with the idea that rape is makes sense for some reason. While, you claim to be in the minds of others - it is a odd way to make a point. I for one, see no rationale for rape that 'makes sense to me'

I can easily see how Kobe could have be determined to screw her, just because she wasn't interested.

Frankly, I've got no clue whether he did it or not. But I can understand how an athlete would be motivated to do it.

Those two statements of your for starters.

"...and now she's going to take him to the cleaners."

Maybe even put him behind bars!

Read them in the context of the discussion. Nowhere will you find me supporting that attitude.

Do you understand why someone might kill someone else in order to become rich? Then you understand their "motivation," do you not? Does that mean you support it? No. But it does mean that, having seen people with such warped mentalities operate before, you might be able to conceive of some other person operating in the same way. Thus you could understand the workings of their mind, i.e. their motivation.

Frankly, if anyone has a problem here, it's you with the English language (and attempting to parse things and interpret things in a warped way)...

This guy didn't rape anybody. Though, he is an idiot for obviously cheating on such a gorgeous woman with anything that crosses his path.

Kobe was lying is arse off tonight at the press conference. You could see it in his face that he was lying. Then when he turned to his wife and said all that stuff about loving her, you could tell she wasn't buying it. Neither was I. I bet he's guilty. How many other times has he cheated on his wife?

This is so transparent -- he's a young guy, rich and famous and extremely popular; she's a girl looking for her 15 minutes of fame and some money. This is a girl who ran to Los Angeles to try out for American Idol, rumor has it.

They're both trash in my opinion.

I think he is guilt of adultery. I don't think he raped her.

The DA would have never charged him if there wasn't other evidence to support it, other than DNA...

Your post reveals your complete ignorance on the subject of rape. To say he wouldn't have sexually assaulted this girl cause he could get anyone he wanted is pathetic and ridiculous. And what in the world does the fact she tried out for American Idol have to do with anything???

We do not know the facts yet and trashing this victim before the truth comes out is horrible. What if she's telling the truth?? Poor girl and her family.

Kobe might have a great reputation but none of us knows him personally. He's obviously not the squeaky clean kid many thought.

I tend to believe that this young, new D.A. would not file charges unless he thought he had a good case. However, I will keep an open mind until I hear the facts. In the meantime, I refuse to let crap like you posted stand without responding.

Well for one Kobe IS NO thug, and you're pre-judging him already; grouping him in generalizations.

You're right... Do you think he'd stake his job if he's only been there such a short time?
