The fact that he said "my god" makes me doubt that he is telling the truth.

It makes a difference in a person's credibility if they are able to just say "god" without having to qualify it by saying "my god."

There is only one god, there is no such thing as "my god" or "your god" unless one is godless.

This has all the makings of a set-up, in my opinion

Could be. But if Kobe committed adultery as he confessed, he was begging to be set-up. ....especially considering that high profile athletes are major targets for setups. He should've known better.

And then again, he could've actually committed the major crime (of rape).

You got to wonder how often this happens, not only to this guy but to million dollar jocks all over the country. They must be targets for predatory females. But, predatory or not, you'd think the jocks would be wary.

To make this story really a disaster, think what would happen if the girl (1) is pregnant, and (2) it is his baby. Unlikely, sure, but his lucked turned really bad and Murphy's Law is in play.

I've not yet seen the race card played but I guarantee it will before the dust settles.

So you're saying once he commits adultery she wins the lottery, figuratively speaking? Not only that, he goes to jail for up to 20 years or whatever? You can't be serious.

The only certainty about this case.

If the allegations are not true, I feel somewhat sorry for Kobe.

Not me. Adultery is not a joke and last week he was denying everything. Now he goes so far as to admit adultery but deny force. I don't think he can be believed about anything.

Well, he admits he committed adultery. So, that matter is between him and his wife. Lots of men and women commit adultery. I am sorry to hear that Kolbe did so because he always came across as a clean living guy. But then, just maybe this was the first time he did and he gave in to the temptation. Who knows.

I still have to wonder just why this 19 year old woman went up to Kobe's room by herself at 10PM. No woman with an ounce of brains would put herself in that kind of a situation. You just don't do it.

Now, we have her, if we can believe her story, claiming she was raped, and we have him, up on charges, claiming it was consentual. It kind of reminds me about that part of the Act of Contrition that talks about, "avoiding the near occasions to sin".

Only two people know just what transpired in that room. I suspect we will always be wondering what really happened.

"I am innocent of the charges filed today. I did not assault the woman who is accusing me.

"I made the mistake of adultery. I have to answer to my wife and my God for my actions that night and I pray that both will forgive me.

Uh...

I would agree with your post to the crossed t's and dotted i's.

I knew an NBA player from years back. He was a relative nobody player off the bench, and he told me of the endless number of beautiful and willing groupies that he had to fend off like flies. When I asked him why he didn't take advantage of the situation from time to time he replied "They're all out for your money, or worse."

Kobe was setup, and fell for the bait. He's lucky. In the animal kingdom, he'd be something's lunch, instead, he's just going to end up being her meal ticket.

Consensus around our office has it at $5 million, and she refuses to testify, and the charges are dropped.

My kids are teenagers now and the mores of this generation are so different from the old days. Teenage girls are so aggressive now. My husband jokingly says he was born in the wrong generation when he hears the stories of the sexual favors many girls are happy to provide these days just to get a boy's attention. I don't buy the rape charge at all. What was she doing in his room?

He's going to walk, even though he deserves to get his ass locked up.

Sad but true.

He is an admitted adulterer. He toasted his own character with or without the rape charge.

I should add to that the NBA player I knew was SINGLE, I wasn't condoning adultery.

Another NBA thug who can get all he wants for free that needs to show the insecurity of his manhood of lack of it by being abusive to a woman. The NBA has the largest percentage of wife, girlfriend abuse and largest number of sired illegitimate children of any socio economic group and certainly in professional sports. Why? Is the easy score the least satisfying?

I for one am glad to see Mr. “You guys know I would never do something like that “
Charged.

I think you are right. She will settle for money and Kobe will be happy to "get this behind him".

It might be that he and the woman/victim are working together to increase Kope's "street cred" and cause a renegotiation of his endorsement deals. Once he gets lots of support for being victimized by "the man" the charges will be quietly dropped.

I already know of one kid who has started wearing Kobe sneakers rather than Iverson sneakers because of this story.

Morals, no. But brains she may very well have. This woman stands to make serious $$$ in a payoff.

(I'm of course assuming that she wasn't raped, for no amount of money could heal the scars of rape).

So she came up to his room. She knocked the door down. She forced her way into his bedroom. She forced him to kiss her. She forced him to screw her.

Hell! He saw a good 'lay' and went for it.

No kidding. I mean, it pisses me off royally, but I see blonde girls throwing themselves at guys who just RESEMBLE athletes or rappers.

You can see riots break out when the real mccoy is presented. It's pathetic and pitiful how much people want a piece of that celeb notoriety pie.

ESPN reported that some states have laws that attorneys can't examine the alleged "victims" past for fear of ruining her reputation. How bunk is that?

The jury isn't even supposed to know anything about the accuser? I'm telling you, as an open-minded juror, if she even has the 'greatest hits of Tupac' in her CD collection, Kobe walks.
