I was in a car with a well known professional white basketball player. Yes, everyone on the board knows his name. We were hometown folks visiting him because of his in-laws. The jock's friend began joking about the girls in the car an ealier night. The player made it clear that this was a forbidden topic in front of us squares.

We also saw him after the game. The beautiful girls were all over the players as they came out of the locker room. I was not and will never be impressed by sports stars. However, I was amazed by the way the women gathered around all the men.

I do not think we know all the facts on this case. A hotel manager said to me that hotel/motel staffs double as surrogates. There are endless opportunities, rooms, beds, locks, helpful associates. If someone travels a lot, especially as a major star, it would be easy to assume that room service was especially friendly and helpful in every way possible.

I believe we should leave it open that both people are to blame. There are ways to exit a room if trouble looms. If I were a woman, I would not go inside a room after 10 PM, as she did. Or I would go with another person.

Still I think we should suspend judgment until we know all the facts. Meanwhile both parties are being tried in public.

She had mental problems and attempted 8 weeks ago a suicide with a overdose of drugs.

She is unstable and suicide attempts are an over reaction as is a rape charge.

The DA stepped in it and may have a very short career since he had probable knowledge of her mental instability before he filed charges.

The DA's career, the woman's charges/word/reputation and Kobe's endorsement money will all be flushed.

Well, when someone writes "Absolutely, that's why God set up those rules. You pay the price when you sin.", the impression is made that one is rather more than less likely to be of a religious persuasion, in this case, Christian.

Man, that statement is just infused with the love of Christ and sheer pig-ignorance of statistics.

Sorry about you not liking the facts. How does stating facts have anything to do with Christ? Look at those athletes and I'll think you realize that they're drug using women beating criminals for the most part. They just happen to be able to play a professional sport. I would love for those folks to find Christ, which would help them stop doing things like driving over 100 miles an hour down I-35 and killing innocent people like that Dallas Cowboy did here in Dallas a few months ago. I could list example after example if you'd like, but all you really have to do is read the news. If you look around the NBA & NFL, you'll find time and time again a majority of these folks are criminals that just happen to play a professional sport.

The story is just odd and it doesn't ring true. Plus, at least we know something about Kobe while we know nothing about this woman except that she was a contestant on American Idol seeking fame. We need to know more. Normally, I do generalize and cast all athletes in a bad light because of the numerous cases of criminality, but, in this case, I just don't buy it...yet...

Yep, I'm with ya, dude. I'll admit, I had that chick pegged as a gold digger from the beginning (so much for open-mindedness) but everything I read about this case just seems to confirm that.

I think they are both guilty of wrong doing - When I started hearing that she had been a contestant on American Idol I thought, "she went looking for media attention"...Kobe was way out of line to have sex as a married man in the first place and he's lost any respect I ever had for him and hope he loses ALL his endorsements. The city of Eagle is probably looking for bookings as its a low season now and this is a good way to get all those media people spending their money sniffing out the stories! If I were in charged, I slap both of them in jail for lying and perjury and make them do community service!
