But plenty of people have cheated without being rapists. So I'm willing to presume him innocent of that type of evil.I presume him innocent, too. And I also presume her innocent.
Let's see what the DA has, but before you go throwing around "innocent until proven guilty", you ought to extend the same standard to the purported victim in this case. Going by some of your posts you are not willing to share out your vaunted standard.

Out of line...how?
I NEVER said he was rapist!! Don't put words in my mouth and stop twisting my posts around.
I listened to every word of the Chmura case on the radio. (that's a whole other topic and too many years ago to go into.)If you wish to discuss it then post a thread on it. Other FReepers probably have no interest in a former Green Bay Packer player accused of rape three years ago.
A jury will determine Kobe's fate. He hasn't been charged yet, but I wouldn't put it past him that something went on.
To: Angelus Errare
Yes, Angelus, but your choice is much like that faced by third party people, who want their candidate and resent the two main party choices.
We don't get to choose coverage of the war on terror and most particularly North Korea.
Our choice is uraniumgate or the Kobe case. I vote for Kobe, because although I am not particularly interested in it, at least it has nothing to do with President Bush and evil Republicans.
Although the way things are going lately, that nice young district attorney in Vail is probably the county chairman for Bush/Cheney 2004.

And let's say for a moment he is innocent of assault. What would that make the girl? A golddigger?
If this girl has ever had any run-ins with the law, or played around, she'll lose this case. In fact, I think this is a case of a woman scorned.
But, Bryant is now Michael-Irvined.

"What would that make the girl?"
An equal opportunity destroyer?

This just in from KOBE:(from Drudge) 'I am innocent... I did not assault that woman... I made the mistake of adultery.'
This might have had a ring of truth had he not waited all this time to come up with it.

Kobe had better hope his wife loves him. She has grounds to take him to the cleaners if she so desired.

Kobe lost his squeaky clean image, at least with me. But he gained serious cred in the "streets." ....Expect his stock to rise.

I call BS on your BS.
Several athletes have been accused falsely, and rape is the most falsely reported crime in the U.S. In some cases, there's no DNA evidence, and even a couple of them have not even been intimate with the accused.
They are not always denigrated.
And you didn't reply to my post. If you were innocent, what would you say?
BTW, heard of Jerome Bettis, the Steeler who was victim of a scam attempt and public smear?

What f&%# is wrong with speaking your mind on something?Nothing.
You spoke yours and I spoke mine. What's the problem with that?
The idea is to back up why your mind is thinking the way it is.

Hadn't thought of it that way.
Gee maybe there is some paper trail showing Kobe Bryant as a top donor or special guest for the Democrats or one of their candidates in the past.
'Democratic-backing sports star on trial for rape!' sounds better than 'what did the president know and when did he know it?' Woodward/Bernstein wannabe nonsense.

Roger that. I said that on another thread here and they got on my case. I said he'll never get convicted. Won't happen. I love for it too, but won't happen.

Not everyone. I'm a big Laker fan and I had no problem believing he might cheat on his wife, but him being a rapist is pretty hard to believe, even with charges filed.
To: Mr. Mojo
Dude, MJ had a bit more cred on the "Streets" but he didn't get his endorsements from "street cred."
His stock won't rise because, guilty or innocent, this is NOT the kind of crime you get "cred" for.
HAs Kevin Garnett ever been charged with anything more than jaywalking? He has "cred." Criminality is not necessary for that thing. Tracy McGrady has similar cred and no criminal background in his recent past.
