SAN JOSE, California (AP) -- Peter Kerrigan encouraged friends to move to Silicon Valley throughout the 1980s and '90s, wooing them with tales of lucrative jobs in a burgeoning industry.

But he lost his network engineering job at a major telecommunications company in August 2001 and remains unemployed. Now 43, the veteran programmer is urging his 18-year-old nephew to stay in suburban Chicago and is discouraging him from pursuing degrees in computer science or engineering.

Did Sir Alan happen to mention which jobs it is that he thinks we ought to keep? Oh, government jobs -- I see. We're all going to work for the government. Nice!

No. The Select, the Chosen, The Elite will have those jobs, serene, secure and above the great unwashed hordes of uncouth humanity. The rest of us can eat s**t and die.

And don't come crying when Al-Qaeda hunts you down for being an "American".

If I were him, I wouldn't worry about al Qaeda. I'd worry about some disgruntled tech worker whose career has been destroyed.

If it weren't so shockingly true, that would almost be funny Unfortunately, that is just about what Greenspan said today. He told that middle class to buzz off and then gave them the finger. That SOB has gone totally mad.

For example, Russia now has a 13% flat tax on personal income. The U.S., although having relatively low tax rates, is much higher than that. Also, the U.S. has a cap gains tax at 28%, i believe, which is extremely high, and the U.S. has some of the highest corporate tax rates in the world.

We've got a 15% flat tax on incomes under 65K (SS/Med), before you even begin to figure in personal income taxes.

From the little I heard of his remarks, he sounded quite sane. He just knows he doesn't have to answer to anyone.

No doubt. I worry about the Patriot Act too.

Greenspan is not the puppetmaster, he's the puppet and he is accountable. Just not to the average American citizen.

If memory serves, Bush renewed Greenspan's term for another six years. At his age, that makes in unaccountable for all intents and purposes, since I doubt he will serve beyond his current term. But you're right. Either way he doesn't give a hoot about working Americans.

You don't get to be FED chairman unless you are willing to take orders from Wall Street and Washington. Greenspan sold out any independence he had to Rubin. Right after that, Greenspan became a media "super star" and maestro. I figure that Rubin gave him a choice -- go along and we'll feed that big ego of yours, or don't go along and we will destroy you in the media. Jim Bunning did the same thing to him a few months ago. It was a clear message for Greenspan to go along and not get any ideas of actually doing the right thing for the economy. Just delay delay delay and pump and pump until after the 2004 elections. Washington politics and the ruling class elite are going to kill us all.

Bob Pryor, who heads the outsourcing practice of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, said it's "naive" to think outsourcing software jobs could ruin America's tech dominance

Doesn't this yo-yo see his job is in line to be next ?

I wonder how America can have tech dominance, when the technicians are idle ?

Their reasoning is simple, they say to me all the time "doesn't Bush realize what is going on here?".
Yes, he does. He's not a conservative. He's a globalist, and he doesn't care.

Refer to peasants in the Urkraine "If the czar only knew!" mantra. Time for people to wake up.

Any one who gets a degree in computer science or engineering is dumber than a stick. Same goes for any major/job that can be outsourced.
