This should be required reading in every history, government and civics class in the United States and Europe.

Africa. Birthplace of civilization. My ancestral homeland. I came here thinking I might find a little bit of that missing piece of myself. But Africa chewed me up and spit me back out again. It took out a machete and slashed into my brain the images that have become my nightmares. I close my eyes now and I am staring at a young woman atop a pile of corpses. Has Jesse Jackson been to visit Mother Africa lately (or ever)? Al Sharpton? Maxine Waters? They should. Take their rhetoric with them. See if they come back transformed and grateful to be Americans like this author.

good article, and what i have been saying for years. there is nothing in africa for me. i'm not an african, afro-american, or anything else. i'm an american. why other blacks don't see the blessings they incur simply by being american, is beyond me.

Thanks very much for the ping. I will have to read it at lunch when I won't be interrupted.

WOW, what a great article. I wish all my black friends here could read this (or WOULD read it). It's time they understood. They don't call Africa the dark continent for nothing. satan has surely had his way here.

The average DUer would just call this guy a Bush loving Uncle Tom.

I am a realist, not a utopian, but there are probably many more positive aspects of life over there that the author doesn't want to look at. To live for something more than mere survival or subsistence should not be confused with the gruesome and anonymous ways in which they died. It was a good read though.

They have not missed the inside of a single four-star hotel on the entire continent.
When they head back to the airport, they see only their armoured escort through tinted windows.

I copied this and printed it, hoping one day to show some of these 'black American' Afro-Centric students/faculty what Africa is really all about.

Yeah, I guess Jesse has been there, but only to learn from the ruling thugs how to oppress your own people and make money through extortion.

I would strongly recommend Keith's book "Out of America", which should be compulsory reading for all black Americans. I think this should be required reading for all Americans.

God is the answer for Africa. The media will never tell you about the millions of people who have been reached by Reinhart Bonnke and others who have evangelized. All is NOT lost. God is moving across this world and we haven't seen anything yet. Africa was satan's playground for years, now it's God's turn. Pray for Africa.
