The trend is away from malls, because mall traffic is down 25%, because 25% of the population smokes, and they are not welcome in malls. Nobody with two brain cells in retailing seems to be able to make the connection.

I don't know how you arive at your figures ... but, you mean you can't smoke at malls? Even outside the stores? There are (or were) big garish ashtrays all around.
