My Call from the GOP

Received a call from the California Republican Party last night (They call at least twice a week). I asked them why I should give them money. This is what he said: "WE WORKED HARD TO GIVE YOU PRESCRIPTION DRUG BENEFITS." That's it in a nutshell. They Reps think that they'll be able to raise money from old people (Which I am not, by the way), having supported this bill. Of course I told him that was precisely why I WON'T be giving them money. I'm so disillusioned by them all.

Is that an exact quote of what the (California Republicans) actually said, when they called you for state contributions ? Very strange !

I tell them I'll send my money to the Club for Growth instead. It helps grow the numbers of true conservatives in House and Senate and is a big enough player that RINOs are aware of it. Giving them money the party could have received slaps down the RINOs more than just not giving any. This can work. The House RINOs are much less powerful than in the previous congress after a net loss of a half dozen or so RINOs while we extended the overall GOP majority. They still have power from senority, but they usually can't thwart conservatives as in the past by voting as a block with the Democrats. Even with the President against us conservatives in the House came within a vote of blocking the Medicare drug give away. With the expected overall GOP increases in 2004 and continued strong leadership from DeLay there's a good chance for a conservative dominated House. The Senate RINOs are a bigger problem. I doubt we can reach a conservative majority in '04, but we can at least increase their numbers. Replacing RINOs when possible (i.e. Spector) with conservatives and ridding GOP states of RAT senators is the key. I'm not fond of RINOs but they are better than Daschles. The average RINO can be drug along with us on somewhere between a third and half of our issues, which is superior to the average RAT.

I will have to remember the Club for Growth.
I have reached the point now that I intend to return every request for money from the Republicans with a letter listing the reasons why I will NOT be donating. With all of the give-aways, expansion of government, continuing open borders and refusal to prosecute illegals, and now Liberia - I could go on and on - I cannot see much difference, if any between the parties. My vote in 2004 is very much undecided.

I used to openly laugh at the Libertarians when they said the differences between the major parties were beginning to blur.

I may well owe them an apology.

I go back and forth on this..

My vote was the GOP's to loose. Now, I am not so sure.

This "issue stealing" stuff is beginning to take it's toll.

Why concern yourself with politics when your signature issues are deemed unimportant?

I am sure the Republicans will have enough votes to get re-elected without my help, anyway.

Only problem I have with the Club for Growth is that they support unlimited immigration; which wouldn;t be so horrible if their other goals were in place; ie limited government, but unfortunately, that's not happening.

Welcome to our world. Ohio has been like this since Taft the Turd took office. Governor Taft's only qualification for office was his name.He was in the Peace Corps or Vista in the 60's. Republicans argue that "he's not a Democrat". Well! That sure makes me feel better! Taft is fast implementing every socialist program that the democrats ever could dream of. Yeah, at least he's not a Democrat...
I heard a great solution to their telemarketing calls. Call 'em back. Call 'em back alot! After a hundred or so calls a day, they will get the message.

That's convoluted thinking.

The GOP & George Bush the elder gave the Presidency to Clinton in '92.

Aparently they couldn't compete with Clinton and Perot. Simple as that.

Why is it that when businesses in our free market lose market share, we blame them, personally, for the loss?

But when a politician does the same thing, we blame either the competition or the consumer for their failure?

If you're going to make a political contribution, don't give it directly to the party. Instead, make your donations to directly to the candidates. Also, vote in the primaries. This way, the party bureaucrats will get your message.

That is exactly what he said...First he said that they were working very hard to get rid of Gray Davis (Which I mumbled that they should have been doing that in November of 2002.) Then came the drug benefit response. I was really taken aback when he said it and I asked him to say it again. That's when I told him that's exactly why I won't be giving any money to the Republican Party.

It's not that convoluted. People unable/unwilling to start at the grass roots level to change what they don't like decided to vote for Perot in their own lazy form of protest, giving the election to Billy-Bob. Of course, due to the disparity in the electoral votes in relation to geographic locale, it may have not made a difference.

My point is, work to change by following the process. GW is a figurehead. It's like the whiners who lay the whole immigration thing at his feet. It's not like he can run down there and close a big gate. Get on the phones to your reps, volunteer to do something, or shut up.

I'll tell you one thing. If all the hand-wringers here sit on there duffs and allow a Democrat to be elected, I will hound and harrass them until I am banned.
