Haven't watched the "new" TNN since they quit showing the stuff men really liked a couple of years ago, hunting, fishing, guns, cars and auto racing shows and turned it into the "Hollyweird", "Madison Avenue" Junk channel. Don't think I'll be looking at it even now after reading here what it has become. A couple of things some should remember about kids watching the trash they want to air now. You are the adult, there are some all important controls on that one eyed monster YOU should be using if you don't want your children watching, they are called the "ON/OFF" button and the "CHANNEL" changer, use them and let the rest of us make up our own minds. This method has worked in my house for more years than I care to count with children and grandchildren and none have told me they were ever deprived because they weren't allowed to watch the trashy side of the "tube".

You know that "R" on that rating is supposed to stand for something. Have you forgotten what that is?<> Nope. It stands for Restricted. But I don't want to restrict adults from watching, or tone down TV shows that offend your sensibilities, just because kids might want to watch.

BTW, I watch TNN and I'm not a man. Should I be confused?

No... It's just themed for men. My wife loves Stripperella and Gary The Rat.

any other men find this "network for men" insulting?

If you do, feel free to change the channel to the Golf Network, SpeedVision, the Church Channel, or any other channel which doesn't insult you.

My sister refused to have cable or satellite tv for years while her children were young and they went so far as to pack their television in storage at times because they were so disgusted with what was on television. Yes, you can control that. However, the children made friendships with other children at school and would go over to *their* homes to watch television in the afternoons, so they still got exposure to Jerry Springer, soap operas and other tv filth.

My sister came unglued when she found out her school was showing kids R-rated movies as "reward" for good behavior.

Ultimately, the parents have the most influence but even the best of them can't control what their kids watch 24/7 and frankly those aren't the kids that concern me. It's the latchkey underparented sat-in-front-of-the-tube-while-Mommy-parties-or-gets-drunk kids that worry me. What's so wrong about tv stations being responsible for what they put on the air? If ALL the responsibility belongs to the parents, why doesn't CBS/FOX/ABC etc just show non-stop porn? Oh, that's right, they practically do.

I can't speak for Mickey Mouse, but real men do watch Bugs Bunny.

My favorite cartoon was when Bugs went to the south, and Yosemite Sam was a Confederate soldier, thinking the war was still on. Bugs gets past Sam by dressing up as a Freedman. Way to politically incorrect to be shown today.

Wow strela, great story; I'll be watching for you, too!

I have a million questions about the original show, but will settle for asking these two: Who are the people that sit behind "Kenny" and the other host? And did you have to sign something in case you got hurt?

I just love the challenges where they are in puffed up baseball or football costumes-oh heck, they're all funny!

can you ping me if you see yourself? Normally, it's on Sat. night, and reruns on Sun. night...

I tripped across it one boring Sat. night myself. Mr. uvular was sleeping on the couch, while I'm practically howling with laughter! Everyone I've made watch it loves it.

Can't wait to see "Banzi" 7-13 on Fox; one of their challenges will be Rascal Races with 2 old ladies!

Who are the people that sit behind "Kenny" and the other host?

They were kind of like Takeshi's "Greek Chorus." From what I understood about the show (and that was darned little as my Japanese at that time was very poor), they were there as comic relief and to provide backtalk to Takeshi.

And did you have to sign something in case you got hurt?

Yes, we signed a personal injury waiver (in Japanese of course). Standard stuff - we had to seek approval via request chit to my CO and the local Navy JAG to do the show. I declined to do the first challenge set to me (running over the rolling logs) because they required contestants to remove their glasses, and I can't see my hand in front of my face without mine. One of our Navy people who participated in the show broke his nose on the logs - he slipped, blood all over the place, etc. The "surfboard" was the second challenge offered to me, and I took it because I could keep my glasses with me.

can you ping me if you see yourself?

Will do.

Just wondering, where's the father in this picture? Or where his morals forged while watching this trash and he willy-nilly propagates without marriage and responsibility?

That wasn't Crumb, although it was in Zap comix. That was a creation of S. Clay Wilson.

I wish I didn't know that....

Daddy's been programmed to think women do nothing but trade sex for money. Why should he feel responsible? < /sarcasm>

Think a show like "Stripperella" is going to alter that perception of women?
