Isn't that the truth. I remember those years well.

You list increased foreign aid to Africa as an accomplishment. Then list eliminating all foreign aid as something left to do. Which is it?
You also list cutting $15.7 million to investigate cases of child abuse and neglect. Is that something you hold out as an accomplishment?

You really should read the entire thread before commenting.

President Bush has proven to be strong honest leader who has passed more conservative measures than Ronald Reagan did in his first 3 years in office by far. He's certainly honest, and his foreign policy decisions have been outstanding.
As for domestic policy, the tax cut is good. But he's going to have to get a handle on growth. Non-military spending is increasing way too quickly; he won't be able to reconcile that with the tax cut, and it just isn't conservative policy in general.
I think he's done a lot more good than bad, but I also think he can do a lot better domestically. Hopefully he will - no one can accuse this administration of being dumb or inflexible.
To: justshe
That isn't what I asked. I asked your opinion of increasing foreign aid and cutting $15.7 million to investigate cases of child abuse and neglect.
I'd like to know if you think these are good or bad.

Terrific list, justshe. Thanks!

Here's something I thought you both might enjoy reading.
**************************************A Tribute to Former President Ronald Reagan by President Bush, February 6, 2001 Laura and I have now spent two weeks in the house where you lived for eight years. Everywhere we look, we find reminders of the great men and women who lived here, and the achievements they left behind.
Your achievements, Mr. President, are clear to all Americans. They are found in the spirit of our nation and the peace of the world.
You came here at a time when our country needed confidence. You told us we could be strong again, at home and abroad. And when you left, we were.
You came to the White House when the Cold War was real. You told us, even when few believed it, that the evil empire would pass and that freedom would prevail. And your resolve made it happen.
In your time here, you never tried to seize credit -- one of the traits we've always admired most about you. But tonight, on your ninetieth birthday, America knows where the credit belongs. America knows you came here twenty years ago and changed the world. America knows the good heart that always guided you -- the unbending principles that always defined you ... the kindness and courage and inner grace that makes you the man you are.
For all of that, your country thanks you, Mr. President. Your country honors you. And your country loves you.

In the interest of accuracy and honesty, I am posting this "correction" on this thread so that there will be NO confusion as to what Rush said on his show today.
**This was posted in #186:
To: Scenic Sounds
So will everyone if Bush gets his act together, if not he is toast!
Rush just said,,,,he doesn't care if the democrats are elected and it would be better because then the conservatives would hold them to account unlike Bush and his liberal democrat agenda.

***This is what Rush said, verbatim:
(Note: this was in a discussion with Snerdly concerning the possible defeat of the Medicare bill, and Snerdly evidently said that it was an election year, etc., and we might lose the House and then the Dems would be in charge of national security.)
"I'd just soon go back and be in the minority and raise hell -- you know, like it was back in the good old days.
"Let them be in charge of national defense. I'm about to adopt the policy of "Let's just show the country how rotten it can be with Democrats in charge. I mean, let them be in charge of national defense. We've beaten terrorism. There is no problem. The Democrats keep telling us that that terrorism isn't that big a deal."

I have not given my opinion on ANY issues that are on the lists. I am not going to start now. That is NOT 'my purpose' on this thread--or to put it another way, that was not my reason for posting this thread, to post my opinion.
On this thread, I am compiling information so that it can be easily seen. No more than that.

It would appear TLBShow understood about as much of Rush's intent as I'd have expected, given my prior experience with him. I'll leave it at that.
To: Howlin
Please post the same on the "principal" thread!

Hmph. Rush is losing his reason. He used to say that anythin wa better than electing a liberal. Apparently he has decided otherwise.
Therefore, he and I will part company.
To: Howlin; TLBSHOW
Oh cripe, Todd! Did YOU ever skew Rush's statement for your own agenda.

I'm shocked... You mean to tell me that Todd might have got it wrong?????? Tell me it isn't so!
Would this lead one to believe that he might have an agenda and taking people out of context to suit his own little pathetic world and slander the CIC?

Thanks for that clarification, Howlin. Good job!
Imagine Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Leader Hillary Rotten Clinton and president Howard Dean !!!
Hell no!
GO BUSH GO
To: justshe
Ok if you don't want to tell us what you think I can understand that.
Would you like to comment on an item you listed that is untrue? Bush didn't revoked the rules that reduced the acceptable levels of arsenic in drinking water. At least not according to the EPA web page. He lowered the levels from 50ppm to 10 ppm.
