Not all the 1,000 fans who show up for the Pasadena book signing get to meet or see her.-- snip --
...But at Vroman's, with 800 copies available and a two-book limit per person, nearly half of the crowd did not make it inside for the signing.
As hours passed and the line stretched, some in the crowd that had started out like a friendly "tailgate party," as one woman described it, turned nasty.
"It's a madhouse. I'm irate," said Edmund Urquiza, 37, of Burbank, who staked his spot in line at 6 a.m., but left at 1:30 p.m. without a signed copy...

Associated Press WriterLOS ANGELES (AP) Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said she likes playing a game when she reads the morning paper, distinguishing between the "scandal du jour" and the "trendlines" that will make the world a better place.
The dedication Sunday of the Saban Research Center, an 88,500-square-foot state-of-the-art research facility at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, was such and event, Clinton told a gathering of philanthropists, scientists and doctors...

...Stepping up to the microphone after a shower of accolades, the Sabans, who made headlines last year for making a $7 million donation to the Democratic National Committee, shared their personal connection to the public hospital...

In the early evening of the 27th of June 2003, Freepers gathered in Century City, near the Century Plaza Hotel, to express support for President Bush, his liberation of Iraq, and other issues.

From the RATs' own website, at www.la.indymedia.org:

My best guess is that WE had about a hundred or two, and THEY had about a thousand or two.More in an after action report by one of my fellow FReepers - soon...
