[history]
July 1, 2003 -- WE Americans have the finest media in the world, representing the broadest spectrum of opinions. Our media is feisty, but also self-critical and self-correcting (though The New York Times may win the Pulitzer Prize for fiction this year). Overall, the American people are very well served.

The western press writes like we are doomed to failure. The press that talked about hand to hand combat in Baghdad with massive loss of life, the famous pause, the dire predictions of casualties, the looting of the museum which was first 170,000 pieces lost to less than 50 lost...our doomsday press.

Try this:
Since Saddam's guys don't read the western press, and have to rely on what they see with their own eyes for information, they are unaware that our efforts are doomed. The poor fools think they are losing, I guess because they don't have the "perspective" and "objectivity" of their betters in the press corps.
Now I gotta go eat a dog turd to get the taste outta my mouth.

This is a very optimistic look at the currect situation in Iraq. I did find myself agreeing with much of it.
I just hope that things continue to progress...all indications are that they will.

The press that talked about hand to hand combat in Baghdad with massive loss of lifeMakes you want to laugh when you think about what was being said before and during the war. They really, really, really predicted this one wrong. I don't think anyone either left or right though Baghdad would go that fast. I didn't!!
