The Vast Dubya & DeLay Conspiracy
June 30, 2003
Depending on where you go and in what circles you travel, conservatives are livid with the Bush administration. Some, more so than others, are furious over the size of the federal budget, the failing to rein in any kind of spending, tax cuts for people who don't pay taxes, the Medicare prescription drug benefit, the list continues - and theres a great deal of head scratching going on.
I came across an Associated Press story over the weekend that attempts to shed some light on whats happening, which you can hear me read in the audio links below. However, the story seems to imply theres a conspiracy between the White House and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas.
Heres just one excerpt: DeLay has become the most identifiable representative of the party's right wing, and the two Texans have had a sometimes scrappy relationship. Clashes may become more frequent as Bush moves beyond his current phase of fund raising among loyal Republicans and shifts his attention to the general electorate, analysts suggest. At the same time, Bush and his advisers are mindful that if they go too far, they could alienate conservatives whose support he needs. Bush is carefully picking and choosing his fights, said GOP consultant Scott Reed. There's a healthy back and forth between the White House staff and DeLay that is mutually beneficial to both.
The story continues to suggest that Bush is telling DeLay to go ahead and stop what hes trying to do - on purpose. The idea being that Bush can thus claim credit for supporting whatever measure, while DeLay and other conservatives can point to victory for blocking its ultimate passage. A caller later asked: Isn't this the same strategy that Bush used on campaign finance reform, only he is counting on the Supreme Court to shoot it down? You can hear my answer below.

Better safe than sorry with the way things are going. Anyways ask Human Events if they are borrowing trouble from tomorrow. You know? That Conservative Magazine that Ronald Reagan loves. I don't care who says it, it's borrowing trouble.
And, I don't care who said it originally, YOU posted it to back up your opinion, so you must think it's true.
I know that your modus operandi in general is to post controversial things then back off when the heat is on, but take responsibility for once, huh?

He's still trying to clean up the mess the Clinton's made for the past 8 years. I don't know how he finds time to do what he does. I don't always agree with everything he does, but I do know he's God's man for this time in our history and that's okay for me! He's good, honest, sincere, has integrity, loves his wife and dog--what more can we want?

I honestly think some would voice dissatisfaction if "GOD" was President....simply because they have to gritch about SOMETHING to keep the pot stirred.

" The Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act (H.R. 760, S. 3) would ban performance of a partial-birth abortion except if it were necessary to the save a mother's life. The bill defines partial-birth abortion as an abortion in which the person performing the abortion deliberately and intentionally vaginally delivers a living fetus until, in the case of a head-first presentation, the entire fetal head is outside the body of the mother, or, in the case of breech presentation, any part of the fetal trunk past the navel is outside the body of the mother, and then kills the baby. The bill would permit use of the procedure if necessary to save the life of a mother whose life is endangered by a physical disorder, physical illness, or physical injury, including a life-endangering physical condition caused by or arising from the pregnancy itself.'Right to Life Facts
Now, I'm not a doctor, but how does this change anything concerning abortion?

Your garden analogy is quite accurate. Incrementalism put us in the situation we are currently in and incrementalism will have to be used to get us out. The problem, however, is that it seems like our President is spraying Round-Up on the rose bush and feeding Miracle-Gro to the weeds.

It really doesn't change a thing does it?

And who should we vote for, TLBSHOW? Do you want a liberal president? Too late, you already have one. I am still looking for a real conservative, one who puts America, and American's and our sovereignty first, all the time. In the future, I will only vote for real conservatives, and not career politicians that are exclusive members to the two party, Beltway club.

I don't advocate any others either which is why conservatives are trying to hold Bush to the fire for the things he has already done that are very liberal. If we wanted liberal stuff we would of voted for a rat, right?
Anyways I have not given up on W yet. Real close but I would rather have him get with the program than have anyone else at this point unless we are going to keep going backwards as we are with W's liberal agenda. Time will tell soon enough if we are on the right track with Bush.

Never too soon to start the harangue, you know! Well, you know, it's his JOB. And he's pretty good at it, too.

Good response, ladyinred. Bushbashing seems to be a popular sport here these days. Too bad. He's not perfect, never was, never will be, but he's the best man for the job, IMHO. We will never find the perfect president. They just don't exist.

My thoughts too, he is growing the weeds and not helping our cause at all with the things that he has been doing.
That is why we must let him know we are not going to support him if he keeps it up. Votes should not be taken for granted.

Speaking of "his JOB", does he have one? You know, like one that pays him money for work? I've wondered about this since he seems to always be here.
To: TLBSHOW
Yes I think we need a real conservative on the sc anyone less is a lost for us. Let me try to explain it, using really little words.
To get someone new on the Supreme Court, one of the people who is already there has to quit or die.
Then, and ONLY THEN, can someone new be suggested.
Since no one has quit or died yet (or even said they are going to quit, or is even deathly ill), all of this is talk that means nothing.

I think TLB could go a long way towards innoculating himself against a lot of this criticism if he could list some people that
he thinks the President
should nominate to the Supreme Court and the reasons for his choices.
With his present strategy of seemingly mindless criticism, he runs the risk of appearing as just another negative and pathologically depressed gadfly. He needs to sound like he is sometimes for something. JMO. ;-)

......
It is not bashing but holding him to the fire, at the same time Bush supporters are blinded and support him no matter what even when he is doing liberal things. You would not give the rats or Hillary witch the same benefit instead we would all be screaming bloody murder. And you know it.
