bump to study later! :)

most American men show an "overwhelming" preference for women sporting long, luscious hair compared to shorter cuts, researchers report.I can't believe there is a study I actually completely agree with!
I was pleased to see this, too:
On the other hand, when Kline's group asked women about hair-length preferences for men, the vast majority chose short or very short cuts. Since long hair is so closely linked to femininity, Fabio-like locks might signal to women that a man is somehow less virile or capable than his buzz-cut brethren, Kline theorized.

men also seem to prefer brunettes over blondes,I have been both, and I can't see all that much difference! :-)

I hope Drs. Kline and Peeler and Ms/r. Fazzone were laughed out of the annual meeting, otherwise the American Psychological Society is even more of a joke than I thought.
I'm not a mathematical statistician (nor do I play one on TV), but my father was. The family consulting business and my two statistics classes give me a fairly good background. This study is, to put it mildly, seriously flawed. Pathetic is closer to the truth.
A sample size of 50? In one city? To say that from this one can generalize that "men", with all the variety that assumes, prefer anything is downright stupid. To be fair, I've not run the numbers nor studied their "data", but with the scant information given here, it's intuitive that this study is lacking. Of course, it's intuitive that men prefer women with long hair, too. What a joke.

It depends on the woman. Though I hardly ever find very short or very long hair attractive.

No. Very long hair on man usually signals that he does not have a job that amounts to anything.

In all likelihood, breeding age maidens, of 12 to 14 or so, wore long as possible hair as a sign of health for marriage. Lice and mange were a turn off. A fuzz hair cut lebian anthropolgist told me so.
Long hair works for me when there is a working brain underneath, except I am a sucker for the nape of an otherwise bright lady of taste.
Sensible brownettes/redish highlights always warrant deep research as to their potential, butt blonds, the fine late summer white, cascading over shoulders from wind gusts...including Heidi Klum's dirty blond...
Never mind.

Wow, like this is breaking news? Next thing you know, they'll spend $5 million for a study to learn we prefer them in sexy lingerie as well.
Then again, this may indeed be "breaking news" to the large number of young women who wear short hair and rarely wear lingerie.
Ladies, we REALLY like these things. I kid you not.

I definitely agree. Long straight hair is highly attractive to me but you'll have a difficult time finding women who wear it very long because of the care they must give it. In situations where it was appropriate, I always let women with long hair know how attractive it looked.
Unfortunateky, when they get to around 50 years old, women with long hair just look odd - mostly the type who think they're still in the 1960s.
