WASHINGTON - Democratic lawmakers and aides said yesterday there is growing interest in tapping Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as the Senate Democratic leader if Sen. Tom Daschle retires next year.
Sources said elevating Clinton - in the Senate for only 21/2 years - would be the best way to raise the party's profile in the face of a popular president and at a time when both houses of Congress are ruled by Republicans.

Fear can be a great incentive. In this case, it is not necessary to invent a bogey creature, Herself already exists.
Just musing a bit, but does anybody recall how Herself became conscious of political activity? When Herself was but sixteen years of age, way before she reached the age to vote, she was a "Goldwater Girl", getting up as a junior cheerleader for Barry Goldwater in his ill-fated quest for the Presidency in 1964. Herself saw Barry get overwhelmed at the polls, and probably said, the way to the top is to join the people who kicked my idol's @$$. And not simply join, but to lead. Incidentally, Barry did not forget Herself and the earlier devotion to the Goldwater cause, and shortly before he died, endorsed the run of the Arkansaw Fellow Traveler in his quest for the White House, as a courtesy to Herself.

Just think how often Tom Daschle has to go on television to speak for the party. Anyone think Hillary would subject herself to that much scrutiny, that much questioning? And the biggest belly laugh...Hillary putting the good of the party over her own best interests!

It'll never happen. She'll have to make the rounds of the Sunday morning talk shows and will, of necessity, have to answer a lot of sticky questions that will be thrown at her. She simply doesn't have the ability to spar with, say, Brit Hume, Tony Snow, Russert, et al, and to respond spontaneously under these conditions. "Ya know" and "I mean" get awfully tired after a while. No, they won't permit her to be the 'RAT senate leader. (And dare I suggest that "the most intelligent woman in America" lacks the intelligence to engage in the kind of repartee that will be demanded of her in this high-profile job?)

Hillary has two qualities only. An ability to instill fear and an ability to get money.

This goes against the law of gravity to elevate Hillary.
Hillary has been running the show since she stepped foot on Captial Hill, this will just make it official.
First speech will be about how patriotic she is if only the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" would stop picking on her.

What a freakin joke. I just went out and removed the DIM switch on my headlights.

This would be awesome. Hitlery can't think on her feet very well and in the leadership position, she would bumble and stumble badly.Exactly!!! When was the last unscripted press review of Ms Klinton? Occasionally, she would have to appear before and answer questions from reporters who are not too friendly! If I were that reporter, the first question that I would ask is, "Hillary, your husband has been accused of rape. What are your thoughts on that subject and do you believe Juanita Broderick?"

HILLARY COULD REPLACE DASCHLEUpon reading this headline I had visions of Daschle being invited to Hitlery's Georgetown pad for an evening of candlelit wine, music and dinner. Then later being driven to Marcy Park to be discovered the next morning by park rangers: another suicide.
