WASHINGTON -- Mariposa Republican George Radanovich on Tuesday cut short his Senate reconnaissance, citing both family and intuition in deciding not to seek statewide office next year. "Family is part of an overall gut instinct that tells me that now is not the right time," Radanovich said in an interview. "I've got an interest in statewide politics, and want to continue that interest, but now didn't seem the time to be doing that, from a family perspective."

Rosario Marin announcement expected in 5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . well, okay, a week, maybe two weeks. July sometime.
Also, why do even some conservatives think it's a good idea to break their term limits pledges? Dopes . . .

Everybody loves the Cali Senate race, right?
On another thread there was news that ex-Sec State Bill Jones is thinking of running.

As a last resort, the Cal GOP could always encourage a write in campaign for Ronald Reagan...hell, he'd probably win..

I once heard it rumoured that Michael Reagan was considering running against Boxer. Have you heard anything, Johnny, about this? He's a pretty solid conservative and has massive name recognition. The only problem, of course, is that he's involved with extremist Newsmax, which could be a drag, but I do believe he'd find a lot of goodwill. He's the only Reagan I know of who's speaking out against the discrimination against the Boy Scouts and all that liberal jazz.

I have heard not a peep about Michael Reagan running or not running since he was initially mentioned. I don't know anything more.

I'm looking forward to Rosario Marin running. She may not win, but she will be a good candidate for President Bush to campaign with statewide, while simultaneosuly helping our Hispanic outreach program. We definitely need an uncoventional approach, and Marin gives us that.
To: JohnnyZ
Bill Jones may not be half bad.
Seems closer to being a winner than the names which are left.

Radanovich is a good man, but I just don't see him getting past that evil bitch. Jones would be better, Marin perhaps better than that. Y'all know I've been chin-deep in the CA recall threads battling it out against the pro-Ah-nold sycophants, but interestingly enough, I'm not nearly as opposed to him entering a Senate contest (since it is RINO Governors that inflict far more damage as Chief Execs than Senators can - unless the latter is the difference between majority and minority status). Personally, I'd just love to see how Boxer would handle him, solely for entertainment value, of course, and if he actually managed to defeat her, he could resign the day after taking office (since, of course, he couldn't afford to take the pay cut !) and have Governor McClintock appoint Bill Jones or Radanovich to the seat. It's a win-win for everybody ! :-)
Hey, I can dream, can't I ?

See post 6 regarding the senate race.

Good guy but probably (definetly?) too conservative to win Califonia.

One of his problems, too, is that he's from out in the sticks. You almost have to be from the L.A. or Bay area media markets to have a shot at statewide, and that's a shame.
