Have you looked at the price of a Garand on the street lately? Hint: a genuint USGI Garnad (even a mixmaster that has been through 3 arsenal rebuilds) will be north of $600. There's one in my local paper today for $400. I don't ecpect it to be there long at that price, but if it's still there when I get Friday's paycheck it's mine.
I expect it's one of the recent ex-Danish army imports. The ones I've come across so far worked just fine, though the collectors sneer.
