The only reason I have kept my email is it's such a pain to change and communicate the new address to everyone.
Besides being "liberals", now they have an "idle timer" which logs people off after only a few minutes which is really annoying. I worked for them for a few months so have seen it on the inside - nice people, techies, but very little customer focus.

I signed on and saw that "Is His Credibility On The Line?" headline and fumed. When I clicked on the link and saw the "Bush Credibility Meter," I would have put my fist through my monitor if I wouldn't have had to pay for a replacement.

They are the worst ISP. I have them. But not for much longer. They definately have a liberal bias. But I think it goes beyond that. I would swear to you, from time to time, that they delibrately block my access to my account. I have a suspicion that they monitor the activity of conservatives on line too. I can't prove any of this, but let's just say, some very strange things have happened with our AOL account. Then again maybe I'm being paranoid? Anyway I'm looking foward to getting rid of them. Not having to put up with the tons and tons and tons of spam and porn e-mails will be worth the price alone.

"So they cite the AP and The New York Times as their sources but they intentionally omit a balancing fact…In short they are another piece of the liberal machinery bent on doing damage to truth and the Republican party."

What would anyone expect form a Time-Warner property?
Surely you cannot honestly be surprised by this junk.

Listen, I had AOHell for years (9 to be exact) & was always bugged by the sleeze & rightwing smearing, the same stuff you've cited above, OK.

Buttttt, one day I opened my "home page," & that did it.

There in full color is a photo of Garth Brooks.
The caption below boldly proclaims:

"GARTH BROOKS ROCKS FOR GAY RIGHTS!"

...& beneath Brooks' pic are a couple of other pics, too.
One's K.D.Lang & the other Melissa Etheridge.

I nearly threw up.

So??
I signed off, called AOL & *fired* 'em that very instant.
When the AOHell clown asked me, "Why would you leave AOL after all the years we'd *enjoyed* together?".
I matter-of-factly told the goofball in explicit detail my reaction to that day's homepage.
Told him that'd been "the final straw" & concluded our conversation by telling him, "I've simply outgrown AOL; so, good luck."

Wasn't much he could say to that, was there??

Do yourself a favor.

...dump AOL, today.

After reading down through this thread, I am amazed at the number of FReepers that are, or have been using AOL. As a grizzled internet veteran who has been on line since '95, I have never seen any reason to use AOL in the first place and lots of reasons to avoid it.

I know exactly what you're talking about.
I can't tell you how many examples of blantant liberal bias and anti-Bush propaganda I encountered on AOL's "welcome page".
It disgusted me.

I mentioned this in response to one of their customer surveys...but I ultimately dumped AOL because of connection problems they kept blaming on my computer...which has happened numerous times...which in fact turned out to be problems on their end.

The worst thing was paying to have their radical leftist propaganda shoved in my face everytime I logged on.
I'm glad to hear their are losing customers left and right.

I personally don't know anyone (who is a serious internet user) who has an AOL account. That's not bias --- that's a fact.

If anyone's looking for a conservative ISP, they may wish to know that OutdoorsUnlimited.com advertises in the NRA's magazine, First Freedom. OutdoorsUnlimited.com claims to donate a portion of their fee to pro-Second Amendment/gun rights groups.

My favorite Earthlink radio commercial made fun of "Keywords" and other AOL silliness and then asked "Isn't it time you took off the training wheels?"

Do you have to have AOL as your homepage if it's your ISP? I prefer mindspring.com (earthlink) for many reasons not the least of which is that it works with Outlook email and it's not web-based. Lose AOL.
