When I first heard that there was a bogus recall petition being circulated in an effort to confuse and derail the Davis Recall effort, I thought that this was merely a story being circulated by Conservatives to light a fire under the butts of people wishing Gray Davis could be taken out of office. It just seemed way too odd to me that people would actually commit election fraud in an effort to stop the movement.
That all changed today when I stopped at a Target in Irvine, CA and saw a petition table for the Recall. I decided to read the small print before I signed.
AND IT WAS A BOGUS PETITION! It first started with official enough looking language with the header RECALL PETITION. But when you got to the second paragraph of the Petition language, the petition stated that the recall movement was a waste of time and resources and a right wing attempt to get rid of the rightfully elected governor!
I was astounded. When I pointed out to the collector that he and his group was violating state election laws, he became combative. I told him I was merely pointing out he was participating in perpetrating a fraud on voters and that I was going to call the store manager to have a look for himself.
Guys, he got out of there faster than a human shield out of Baghdad before the war!
So, in the end, the bogus recall effort DOES EXIST!
And yet, the official recall petition contains the same language you had generally alleged to have read. That must smart thinking some smacktard came up and harangued a valid recall effort, and got others on the forum to encourage the stealing of valid petitions. Did Bob Mulholland set you up for this thread?
