Meanwhile, Back at the UN..

Jack Engelhard

There's a war going on. Will somebody please tell Kofi and the rest of the gang that can't shoot straight?

Better yet, don't tell them. Let those delinquents continue to curse and condemn the rest of us -- most of us who are Christians and Jews -- and we'll pretend that we still give a damn.

Still, the United Nations is a fine institution. We need the place. We sure don't want these people running around loose. Keep them off our streets!

You want Libya in your neighborhood? True, their general assemblies and security councils consist of cut-throats, backstabbers and hatemongers, and also true that they cause, not deter, war, disruption and upheaval. But if we pay no attention to them, same as we ignore other asylums...here's the good part...we can keep them all in one place.

I'm not like those people who want the UN disbanded. I want it just where it is -- but locked up. Kofi Annan would make a wonderful Warden.

Yes, make it a subsidiary of the New York State or the Federal Department of Corrections. Keep them where they are, but behind bars. Let them make license plates.

We'll only need to add a heavily armed watchtower to the building.

Give them meals and an hour recess -- but promptly back in their cells. Ambassadors? Make them inmates.

I used to laugh when I remembered that the joint used to be run by a Nazi, Kurt Waldheim. But you know something? A Nazi -- a guy who actually served under Hitler and knew all the tricks -- was perfect for keeping those other felons in line. Kofi is not so bad either when it comes to traveling with the criminally insane.

I say traveling because a wonderful writer, Anne Bayefsky, reminds us, those of us on the outside, that the UN's Commission on Human Rights is now meeting in Geneva. They probably went first class but should have been taken there in paddy wagons, iron bars, handcuffs, and leg irons to protect the populace.

Remember that commercial -- "Do you know where your children are tonight?" Well -- do you know where Algeria and China and Libya and Malaysia and Saudi Arabia and Sudan and Syria are tonight? They're in Geneva, picking up where they left off in Durban, which will forever be remembered as the staging ground for The New Let's Get The Jews.

But I don't know if Kofi Annan, the Warden, went with them. How much can you take from these malcontents, even if you are one yourself?

Libya leads up this "Human Rights" chain gang. (Even Eugene Ionesco, the great playwright of Absurdist Theater, couldn't make this up.)

Titles like "Human Rights" sound good. Asylums are filled with people who call themselves (and think they are) Napoleon. Titles are important to this kind.

So it's no wonder that the Felon From Libya refers to that Felon From Arab Occupied Israel as -- "His Excellency, The Distinguished Ambassador of Palestine."

They all insist on being called excellencies and distinguished. Sure, sure, anything to keep them from rioting and requiring the water hoses.

Normally, when people like this are confined -- as I highly recommend -- they play cards, shoot dice, arm wrestle, read Playboy, and when outdoors, they're allowed to stretch, lift weights, play basketball. Not so our Distinguished Excellencies of the Department of Corrections. No sir! They talk big stuff, like Hate and Racism.

America and Israel are racist -- so say these convicts, meaning, in Yard slang,"You're my bitch."

According to these criminals, the Muslims did the suffering. September 11 was our fault. Everything is our fault. The Jews, the Israelis, the Americans are to be blamed for everything.

But you know that famous claim made in every prison: nobody in here is guilty. As the world turns its back on this asylum, back in New York and over there in Geneva, separate UN Commissions are doing what comes naturally -- condemning Israel, assailing America.

I say this. Let them play. Keep them busy...as long as they're back in their cells at a reasonable hour.

Jack Engelhard is the author of the international best-seller Indecent Proposal, and is completing a thriller, The Uriah Deadline.

My 2 cents regarding the UN?

American Policy Center on-line Declaration of Independence from the U.N.

As I recall, the un has one or more "contingency sites" located in other nations... let's banish them there--
