QUEEN VALLEY- Residents of the peaceful little community of Queen Valley experienced some excitement last week when one of their residents was arrested for the manufacture and possession of marijuana and a weapons possession charge.
With the assistance of the Pinal County Narcotic Task Force and the Pinal County Sheriffs Office, the Pinal County Environmental Control Division executed a search warrant for the home of Michael Doran Senger, 47, located in the 2100 block of Running Deer Rd.
Sengers presence was allowed during the search and while it was being conducted he asked for permission to go inside the house to get a phone book to call an attorney.
According to authorities, during Sengers phone conversation he was allegedly overheard saying, "There are several county deputies and environmental inspectors searching my property, they found my marijuana that Im growing for medicinal purposes and I think Im in a lot of trouble."
While deputies were conducting the search, a neighbor identified as 40-year-old Anthony Borelli, of the 1000 block of El Camino, attempted to make verbal contact with Senger. Although authorities advised Borelli that he was not allowed on the property, he reportedly attempted to veer around a deputy. Borelli was asked to leave the property but before he did, he turned around and allegedly made a disparaging comment to officers.
Borelli was subsequently placed under arrest and the search of Sengers property continued.
The search warrant turned up 86 marijuana plants ranging from six inches to four feet tall which were being grown in a fenced area next to a barn on the property. Inside the residence authorities found 15 plastic bags, weighing approximately 5.5 pounds, containing different types of marijuana and 10 plastic bags containing marijuana seeds.
In addition to the marijuana, two shotguns, two SKS brand assault rifles with ammunition and one Glock semiautomatic handgun with ammunition were seized.
Senger was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center in Florence on possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, manufacturing of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
Yeah right.
I'm sorry but that excuse is almost becoming as ubiquitous as "The dog ate my homework".
There can be fair debate about marijuana's role in the drug culture, but once I see that excuse, I roll my eyes at the knee jerk victim mentality of a major pot grower.
Sorry to bust your bubble, but that is hardly major growing.
I've seen more plants than that grown in a basement hydroponics setup with "grow lights"..
This is a Minor Grower, probably supplementing his income with a little pot growing on the side.
He probably smokes part of it himself, and shares/sells the rest with freinds and neighbors.
I don't see a major drug "kingpin" here.
Ok, he's not the cali cartel, but still the excuse stated in the press report that all that pot was his "medicine" is laughable, IMO.
He might as well blame it on "The Matrix".. ;oP
That's cool---I suspect the mods are less likely to backroom threads started by someone else.
