No offense, but that's the most assinine thing I've ever heard (if you're in the radio biz.) If not, stay out! Please! No offense taken, but that's the truth. Radio IS about ratings, and ratings are about advertising dollars. I don't see what is asinine or incorrect about that. If you know something different, I'm willing to listen. For instance, the operations manager at KSFO/KGO is a liberal, BUT maintains a strong lineup on KSFO because conservative radio is good radio, pulls in LOTS of listeners ... listeners who spend money on what the advertisers sell (although to hear it, we're all bald, arthritic, and ... uh ... libinally challenged. {grin}).
I'm former radio biz, and have friends who are currently in the same station family as KSFO.
We don't have the inside scoop as to the $$/listening trends for his show. As I mentioned a few posts up, perhaps they couldn't come to terms on the length of the contract.

what a joke that last rant was.
are u kidding me?
these girls go from boyfriend to boyfriend in less than ten minutes. they're always in demand. that was a total crock.
i have a pic of me sitting of a sofa with half a dozen playmates around me at the the Dewar's whiskey lounge in vegas. They were the happiest, healthiest girls ever.
Like i said, the photos are doctored too make them skinnier and stuff. I would've put a ring on any of their fingers, but right now, i don't have that fat wallet that they are looking for (and i don't fault them for that).
the ones that are unhappy usually end up with an abusive boyfriend.
there was an E true hollywood story about that one playmate, the sultan's sweetie or something. it was interesting and a real look into the life of a playmate. they are never alone, no wonder they're nuts!

In fact, there's probably a non-disclosure clause, and he most likely not allowed to discuss it on the air. That's fine - I can accept that, and didn't think about it at the time.
But contrary to your suggestion, ranting about his contract negotiations on the air would have been "minor league stuff."
Please don't misunderstand - I never suggested that he should rant about his contract negotiations on the air. I simply suggested that (now, if he were not prohibited from mentioning it) telling his loyal and intelligent audience something a little closer to the truth would be preferable to "technical difficulties," unless the difficulties referred to his contract. It's a delicate call. A station dropping a syndicated show - when they were the host's home station - is a pretty rare circumstance, and I don't believe there's an easy answer for that one.

Savage mentioned it on the beginning of the show that "they" dropped him and that he would be back on because He is going to fix them up. I'm confused ... fix them up? I didn't hear that - do you know what that meant? Thanks.

haha, Hotties are not all they are made up to be BEAST! take my word.
To: bootless
you could be right putting it that way, because last night was freaky and after having Mike savage set up on Saturday by the NYU lawyer I was just freaked out that Savage was being hit.
To: 666beast
Beast, I agree they want a fat wallet, and many many many end up with a guy that treats them like S**t and mentally abuses them. But that dream for them playmates crashes into Drugs, softporn then hardcore, then you end up like in the gutter.
To: ruready4eternity
Thanks... What happened with the NYU lawyer? I don't watch the MSNBC show.
Radio contracts are funny things ... the on-air guy will never, ever say anything about their contract coming up for renewal on the air, or voice any uncertainty about re-signing publicly. It's all strictly behind the curtain voodoo.
But in a very visible situation like this, it's the elephant in the living room - you really can't avoid discussing it in this situation, and I would have been happier to hear him get closer to the actual situation. Technical difficulties makes it sound like the ISDN line was down.

yeah, the whole "fallen angel" story. it's devastating to witness when you know some normal poindexter could make her happy.

Saturday He interviewed a lawyer that His producer told him (Savage) was sympathetic to his issue he was discussing about that muslim who wanted to wear a veil on her drivers photo Id. So the lawyer came on and started to spew out her ACLU crap to mike and Mike was caught off guard for a sec and had duked it out with her, So he came out firing on all cylinders yesterday about how he was set up then got emails about him not being on in and just mentioned not to worry He will fix em all up Im Mike Savage. SO... I just thought they were playing games on him (meaning Radio station).

University education in the Middle East is like putting turds in a blender and serving the extract in a
Waterford crystal punchbowl. Is it true no Arab has ever appeared in Gentlemen's Quarterly, as no
fashion editor can tell where an Arab's wardrobe ends and his tent begins?---some norman liebmann lines i read recently.

Anybody heard what's going on with Savage? He wasn't on the air at KSFO at 5pm today. Is he still with KSFO?

Dude He will be BACK ! IT doesnt matter where u are he said, Ill be back lol.
Enjoy the rest of your day or nite wherever you are. God bless you guys!
To: ruready4eternity
Wow - sounds like the lawyer lied (I'm shocked!) to the producer. I would think the producer would check out their creds independently, though. I can't imagine a producer lying to the host, unless they want an instant career change.
Well, I suppose it's possible that there's a contract stalemate going on ... I have no idea... we'll see...

Yea boot, Michael said he was going to investigate and get to the bottom of it because he accused the producer of setting him up , but made a remark as to he can hit a baseball pitch thrown at him no matter how fast it was, LOL
