I suspect this story is overwhelming popular with women, and men just don't get it.
There are no celebrities or politicians involved. There's absolutely no hook at all to national news, foreign policy, economics, or anything that means anything outside of the soap opera.
I'm moderately curious about the facts, since it appears that the killing was done with no physical evidence to implicate the logical suspect in the case. I think it absorbs far too much of the time of people here at FR, and I don't think that any development, short of a jury verdict, is Breaking News.
It's only on my radar because it seems to be on everyone else's. Men kill their wives every single day in this country, and it's not national news.
Now a woman who drives over her adulterous husband in a hotel parking lot five times and pleads not guilty, that's news. But non-stop, let's dwell on it 24 hours a day news.
I'm just sick of the tabloid coverage. It's RUINING a potentially devestating blow to leftist dogma. The networks should let it quietly unfold, with minimum coverage composed of regular updates which might impact on the public at large.
