A federal jury ruled today that the New York Times and one of its reporters libeled an Ohio Supreme Court justice in an article about a lawsuit filed by the son of Sam Sheppard. But the jury said it was done without malicious intent and refused to award damages.
Justice Francis Sweeney was seeking $15 million. He accused the newspaper and reporter Fox Butterfield of libeling him in an article published April 13, 2000. Sweeney said the report defamed him by falsely saying he used his influence in a case he had been involved in earlier as a prosecutor.

The biggest gun grabber at the paper. Figures.
Time to pass around a jug of Kikapoo Joy Juice!
Maybe the cumulative effect of all this bad press for the non-press NYSlime will be a stake through that vampire's heart.
The fundamental fallacy of all codes of journalism is quite simple: no one knows the whole truth, and no one tells everything they do know--and half the truth can be a very big lie.The conceit that journalists under deadline and competitive pressure can and do produce "the first draft of history"--rather than an image of their own human, limited vision--is hubris. Take that conceit out of a journalistic ethics code, and IMHO nothing much is left of value.
We are not entitled to the truth, for nobody is legally obligated to tell us the truth.
We are entitled to our own opinion, and to attend to whoever we decide to listen to and ignore the rest--and to publish our own opinions as we choose, subject to the limitations of our own purses but not subject to government licensing. That's why FreeRepublic.com should be constitutionally protected--but McCain-Feingold in particular, and the FCC in general, should be thrown out root and branch.
He is a lefty so that is genetically impossible. That would be admitting he was wrong and lefties can't do that. Have you ever seen one do it? Look at Slick. Look at Hillary. Look at any of them. They are still claiming to be victims rather than being guilty of something, or of anything, period. No matter how guilty, they will ride it out rather than admit guilt. Remember Torrecelli? After being found guilty in court his fellow Dems refused to punish him and he refused to quit or admit guilt. He was finally forced out by the DNC (Clintons), not because he was a crook, but because he was losing the race to a Republican. The same is true of Raines. He won't be allowed to quit, not that he wants to, because that would discredit the left.
"YES SIR MR RAINES, I'LL GET RIGHT ON IT!!!"
