In his case, it did affect his ability to hold out notes, his phrasing, he does look foolish just standing there like a tree and what kind of stamina will he have if he ever had to do a show of at least twenty songs? Show business is hard work.

The other day Ruben said he was "tired". It's only going to get harder for him unless they keep him in the studio recording. The touring circuit is not for the faint hearted.

His sweating problems and facial expressions that do not exude confidence are a distraction from his performances. He's got a tougher road to hoe than Clay who at the same age, is fit and is a better singer by far. Tonight's crowning may be the highlight of Ruben's career but Clay is going to go much further.

I was for Clay until a few weeks ago, when although he has an extraordinary voice, he seemed to become mundane and ordinary. I thought he was Broadway before Simon said it. I still adore Clay but unless he IS a Neil Sedaka or Paul Anka, in today's music where is he going to go?

He's not boyband, he is much better than that. But how many Manilows are there? How many where there in Barry's time? I thought Harry Connick was amazing but look at the category he's stuck in....Will & Grace.

Honestly, Clay fans, you keep saying he has the lasting power etc over Ruben, but please tell me where and how long do you realistically expect it to last? Sam Harris was amazing! He was the first Motown artist that was white, he almost killed himself over being 'big' then nothing. Now if he didn't find success on Broadway he would be dead.

Sorry, I've kept this to myself because I hate all this bickering, but truly in the way music has changed so dramatically where will Clay be?
