No doubt the winner next time will be a transgendered whatchmacallit. I am thru watching so called reality TV. The best part was sharing it with freepers........

I was just adding to the discussion about how Ruben's family consistently seemed to be able to get through hundreds of times.
To: cincinnati65
Oh, give it a rest. You haven't been watching since the beginning so you don't know all about the earlier uproars. Jesse Jackson couldn't have done a better job.
Everybody KNEW Ruben was going to win; and if anybody is racist it's the AI producers.

Heck, I thought both of them had great style. They are just very different. Clay sounds like a Broadway musical singer, Rueben has that R&B thing. They both have talent. The racist remarks are pathetic and uncalled for. What's really pathetic is that this thread still exists. The entire thing should be deleted.
But you're right; both of them are amazing singers, either one would have deserved it, and they're both going to get - well, already have gotten - good contracts.
To: Scothia
They are toward the end. Maybe in the last 20 minutes.

I was disenfranchised here in Florida. At one point, I got a voice on my phone that said I tried too many times and I had to quit for awhile. I think they had Clay's phone lines rigged to slow us down. I had everything thrown at me to get my vote through about two hours later. IT WAS FIXED. I am done with AI because the fix was in for Ruben.

Clay knew, all the contestants knew. No need to say it out loud. WE KNOW NOW TOO.

LOL! The best part was sharing it with Freepers. I wholeheartedly agree. Thanks for all the sharing and enjoying.
To: Fawnn
I agree with you. As someone who is overweight, I have been frequently disheartened with the viscious comments made about weight in general at freerepublic. Many of the men seem very shallow, and are not ashamed to admit it and seem to want something akin to a Stepford wife for a mate(no, I'm not looking--I've been happily married for 7 years). It seems as if this is an acceptable thing to plug fun at here and, like you, it does not fit my image of a conservative who I expect to have a little more dignity and control with their words and a bit more REAL compassion for their fellow man/woman, but everytime I read it I can't help think of high schoolers with the tone some of the comments take.
I just wish you all would give it a rest already. Sure we know being overweight is unhealthy, life is unhealty, not even the biggest health nut on freerepublic is going to escape the coffin. But why this constant obsession with "fat jokes" on free republic I'll never know. I think part of it is that it is easy to make fun of fat people. Their personal flaw is very obvious and it is still acceptable to make fun of that obvious flaw.
Anyway, off my soapbox and expecting to have some stupid fat, dumba$$ woman joke, but it's been said. I agree with you Fawnn!
PS I thought Clay was most deserving of this as well, but I think its for the best. Clay will have more flexibility now with what he does and Ruben may be stuck with marketing that may not be appropriate for him(think of that movie that looks like a flop from Justin to Kelly) just because that's what he agreed to do when he signed up for this.
Like others, I don't know if I will watch it again(ok, maybe the initial shows because they are pretty funny), but not the final 12. It's not worth the effort if it's fixed.

I have to agreed with the folks who were trying to vote for Clay. I spent over an hour trying to get through and never did and then I read where folks in B'ham voted 300-400 times (yeah i'm not quite sure that's true)....but how can you dial, dial, dial and then never get through and you hear of all these people who voted for Rueben did....what's with that? I'm from Alabama and liked Rueben alot but his voice did not compare with Clay's.....

The blatant racism on this thread is nothing short of frightening. DUers will be linking to this hatefest for the next two years any time they need to "prove what slimeballs Freepers are."Oh, for goodness sake. We're discussing FACTS here; the fix was in.
And if you're so worried about what DUers think of FR, link them ANY gay thread or SEX thread or MUSLIM BASHING thread.
Talk about frightening.

I was just adding to the discussion about how Ruben's family consistently seemed to be able to get through hundreds of times. Perhaps they were text messaging instead of dialing. I wasn't able to get through a single time last night, and that was calling RUBEN'S line, for all you racist conspiracy theorists out there (not you JAG).
To: cincinnati65
The winner was Clay. We know it, everyone else knows it too. And when Clay gets his platinum record, you will admit it too.

Who cares?????
Then why bother to come on the thread and go to the trouble of posting?
Maybe posting isn't trouble for him, in fact maybe he enjoys posting his opinion!
Just like I'm going to enjoy posting this:
"Who really gives a fat fiddlers f@&$?"
To: CarmelValleyite
Here in L.A. and now that I know the unfortunate outcome I can skip the show and go straight to..... The Bachelor, After the Finale!!!!! I was deliberately staying off this thread until FNC announced the winner at 7:00 P.M. PDT. I wonder how many viewers will tune out on the Left Coast.
Anyway, I was shocked that Ruben won and got the $1 Million contract. Now the contract offers for Clay will come in - starting at $1 Million and up.
To: OldFriend
"Ruben has sounded lousy for several weeks"
I don't know about the last several weeks. I only followed the last 2 nights. I do know if I had to market one of them (minus the talent aspect) I would choose "Big Ole Roo". I mean... there is just so much more to work with.
To: Howlin
At one point my redial button stopped functioning. Does anyone know if phones are programed for a limited number of redials?
