OK. This is my idea.

We should all get together and write a book on marriage. We all have incredible, hot marriages (to out best friends) that work, and are filled with head over heels, take your breath away, type love. AND we can all write......right??

Wouldn't it be fun to get together and swap stories and then write down our experiences and advice (modified to a PG13 level of course!). AND we could write to George and Laura (who obviously have something sizzling going on) and get their contributions.......like how he modeled that flight suit to her. (Mr. Ohio had some FUN suggestions as to what they might have done, and I think I'm about to head out to a Navy surplus store!)

Whaddya think? ;o)

Writing a book about marriage? Who better than us!

Here's my story, just for grins. I met my Mother-in-law first! We were in a local community college class together the fall after I graduated High School. We became friends and she would listen to me whine about a total lack of social life. Then she would go home to her son and listen to HIM whine about a total lack of social life. SOOOO she put two and two together and thought "hey maybe they could date and I wouldn't have to hear any whining anymore" not even thinking that it would go anywhere.

She started suggesting the idea to me. I'm thinking, if Mom is trying to set up dates for this guy, he must be quite the loser, so no thanks. SO she tricked us and arranged for her son to meet her (and me) for lunch. We were equally underwhelmed with each other.

Then, a week later, I missed a class. MIL had her son call and arrange to bring me her class notes. While I copied the notes, my mother grilled him. When I was done, we saw an add for a movie. We looked at each other and before you knew it, we were out the door and headed to the theater. We saw the movie, an awful one, and then talked in the car until 4 a.m.

We were engaged 6 months later, when I got back from Basic Training and Tech School. Leaving him at the airport was one of the most difficult things I ever had to do, but I had enlisted several months before we met and had no choice but to go.

Today, as I am writing this, he just brought me breakfast! We have two kids and have been married for 20 years. He completely supported my retirement from the military in August of 2001 and then totally supported my returning to the military after 9-11.

He's a great guy and I am one very lucky lady.

I love collecting "how we met" stories, especially for my genealogy which, if I were to ever write a book about I would title "A Thousand Chance Meetings".

SO I'm in!
