House Won't Act on Assault Weapons Ban
The Republican-controlled House will not renew the federal ban on Uzis and other semiautomatic weapons, a key leader said yesterday, dealing a significant blow to the campaign to clamp down on gun sales nationwide.
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) said most House members are willing to let the ban expire next year. "The votes in the House are not there" to continue the ban, he told reporters.
His spokesman, Stuart Roy, said, "We have no intention of bringing it up" for a vote.

Dang, I just went through 5 months of B.A.T.F. Class III Permit applications ($400) for a threaded 2.5" barrel and silencer on my AR-15x. I would love to own a suppressed weapon but will never do so because of the gun taxes and the government list you are placed on. Automatic, suppressed and any other Class III firearms registered with the nazi Bureau Alcohol Tobacco Firearms will be the first on the confiscation lists.

"Let's hope and pray this continues to be the case. Clearly, if they do not have the votes for that, then the monstrosity the marxists want to push through should never even get to committee, much less ever see the light of day. "The fact that this liberty killing piece of toilet paper bill was written and presented in public without fear to the supporters and that we are even worrying about this is a clear sign of the times.
I am going through some tough personal times and this all has seemed like back-burner stuff at the present...and I have kinda been lulled into a more comfortable stance since the conservatives have made gains in most areas of government....but I recognize this area of my life as lacking my attention and need to keep better pressure on my political rats.
We do what we can to preserve peace and liberty while we are able. Whatever comes, comes. His will, not mine. If and when we are presented the challenge to take up the flame of liberty and do our part as the founding fathers did, I trust the good Lord will bestow on myself and my countrymen/countrywomen the courage to correctly and effectively respond to tyrany.
HE is Mighty in Battle. He is Faithful. He will uphold me with His strong and Sovereign Right Arm. Whom shall I fear? NONE. For Christ is with me.

You have forced Schmuck Schumer to surrender.
Hannity confirmed Schmuck has an armed bodyguard.

This is a very dangerous game Bush is playing.I will agree with this statement. The law should have never been enacted, and I feel he should have come out and stated this and given his support against it, by stating he would never sign it if it reached his desk. There is a time to take a stand and dig in, I feel this was that time. This alone would have helped him tremendously, IMHO.....
You can't expect to play around with American's second amendment without getting hurt in the process.

"... Folks, I wouldn't buy any of those overpriced preban HKs right now...lol The sunset of the 1994 AWB won't affect pre-ban H&Ks.
Don't expect much of a drop in those, if at all, providing the sunset occurs.
To: ModernDayCato
The implication, as always, is that the sunset will have all of us carrying Thompson submachine guns Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Screw the AWB. When are they gonna kill the machine gun ban of 1986 that GHWB-41 signed. That is when we will really be on an even footing as the 2nd ad provides.

Open invite to any Fellow-Fellowette FReepers in the York, PA area: I've got a private range on my 20ac garden center & nursery, and you're welcome to stop by and try the AR-15x out, along with my AR-10, Remy 870 12ga Tactical Riot Shotgun, Glock 32/.357sig and Kimber 1911acp .45cal, and heck, bring some of your toys along! Very generous of you, sounds like you've got all of the fun toys;-) If ever in the area I'll take you up on your offer but the same stands for you if you ever make it out to L.A.! (West coast Freepers have some pretty cool toys too.)

I actually had the pleasure of shooting an old Thompson, streetsweeper and all at the local Police range. It is 'owned' by an FBI agent.
And if I may say....WOW.
