Chill out fellow Freepers and enjoy what is unfolding now and what is going to unfold over the next year up to the elections.

Bush signalled to the Dimocrats that he would sign a renewal of the AWB. The right Dims bit.

Mr Delay assures us it will never see the floor of the House in any form. No bill of any kind will ever make it out of committee. I believe him.

The Dimocrats have been dupped into pleading publically and hysterically for ridiculous levels of gun control and they will be continually baited right up until the election.

It is another opportunity for the Bush Admin to highlight the true nature of the Dimocrats and it appears to me that the Dimocrats have taken the bait and are screaming with it as predicted.

This is behaviour you could not purchase and the Dims are shouting it from the roof tops for free.

Enjoy. Half of the game of politics is guile and the other half is patience. Not to say that continually enforcing with your Congress critters the importance of letting the AWB sunset is not useful. It is. But at least enjoy the show the Dims are giving us in the run up to the elections.

There is an old saying. "fool me once, shame on you: fool me twice, shame on me"

I agree. Bush said what he said knowing full well that this bill will not ever see his desk. Rove will keep the Republican fence sitters in line. Sure, some Republicans will vote for it just as some Democrats will not. But in the end, the AWB renewal will be either outright killed or transferred to some subcommitee where bills go to die.

Everything has been planned out and pre-arranged. This President absolutely controlls the current congress.

It was nothing more than a shrewd political move by Mr. Bush to maintain votes among the gun-hating soccer moms.

Your theory makes way too much sense to not be on target.

I guess that's why I hate politics so much. I have little guile and less than moderate patience. I much prefer the straight dealings or Ronnie Reagan. I could never be a politician because the first time some smarmy, self righteous, pissant, left wing politian started lying to me, I would bust him/her up side the head and then kick their fat commie ass all over the capitol building.

P.S. I suck at cards, too. That's why I don't gamble.

I remember, a while back, going to bed one night after hearing on the evening news that the Brady bill was dead. Then next thing I heard about it on the morning news was that it had been passed.

What you say makes great sense. Let us pray it is true.

However, the usual anti- gun control ruckus absolutely be maintained, if not more ferverently, lest the Congresscritters get the idea that this issue won't cause them to look for a real job.

If we fail in that, the promises we have heard won't be worth what the usual Congressman's promise is worth...

That sounds like the Bush I know. One forgets sometimes as these things seem to roll forward. I have said it, myself, that the Crats think they are gaining something, that they have W by the throat and just as they are about to move for the kill they realize that they have only a handful of their own shirt and there is no ground under them or the thing they have won is very different from what they fought for and thought they were getting. Thank you for reminding me.
