Assault Weapons Ban : not any more - its way worse.
NRA ^

All you anti-AWB people : listen closely. The "extended" assault weapons ban would ban TONS of guns, including ALL semi-automatic shotguns, ALL shotguns that hold < 5 rounds, M1 Garand, Mini-14, ALL semi-autos that can have > 10 rounds with or without fixed magazine.
Gives the attorney general the ability to declare a gun "not sporting" and subsequently ban it.
That's right folks, its the big one. They want 'em all. -Still- feel playing complacent about them not taking away your guns? If this goes through, handguns are toast in <= 5 years. 30 caliber rifles next. Then, there's not much left.
Its bad.

I thought I read somewhere that an AWB bill would never make it out of the house, in any form. What if by one of those cosmic coincidences, some horrific "assault rifle massacre" takes place a week before the bill is voted on?
Maybe some crazy old veteran (a "right wing militia kook", naturally) on psychotropic drugs will shoot up a stadium full of people with a "machine gun."
That's the plot of my novel, anyway.

I always kick myself for selling mine. It was by far the sweetest revolver I ever owned. Brand new. I was going back overseas and sold all my guns. dumb, dumb, dumb.
Oh, well, my Taurus revolvers are doing well.

In my novel, a hacker posts the names, positions and addresses of all of the ATF and FBI agents in three states on the internet in a way that keeps springing up like weeds or cockroaches.
Even good guy agents would be endangered.

This bill is beyond unacceptable. This is not just a re-upping of rht AW ban, it's a brand new and MUCH more extensive ban.
If it's enacted, I do what I have to do. That's all I have to say.

When I took the folding / pistol grip stock off my Mini-14 and put the wood stock back on, the muzzle velocity dropped from 3,000fps to under 100fps. Yup, we took the bayonet lug off an AR15 and found we couldn't punch holes in a paper plate at 100 feet.
No wonder bayonet lugs are illegal....

Yup, with the "revised" history they teach in school now. I seriously hope that those of you who say this is all a political ploy or game are right. Cause if you are not, than there will be many a sad family in this nation....both citizen and federal....God forbid that day ever have to come.

..."Reps. John Conyers (D-Mich.) and Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) have drafted legislation that bans millions more guns! It's a giant step closer to the goal stated by Clinton ban sponsor Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who said on CBS's 60 Minutes: "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them, Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in, I would have done it." Toward that goal, Conyers/McCarthy would: ..."Pylot's assessment is in the correct one IMO.
I am a life member of the NRA but my primary reaction to this thread is that the NRA needs to stop writing misleading press releases and start reporting the facts. The basic facts on the issues of gun laws are on our side.
As to this "bill" any moron [a category that definitely includes McCarthy] or a dedicated fascist or probable marxist [Feinstein and Conyers respectively] can draft a bill and submit it for consideration. That doesn't mean that it stands a snowball's chance.
This press release doesn't even state whether the bill has actually been submitted / referred to the appropriate committee.
Remain vigilant, but tell the NRA's ILA to fight the real battles and always make good use of the facts.

I am sure I heard somewhere that over a hundred children a day are killed by bayonet. We are fortunate that only a few hundred a day are killed by pistol grips. On the other hand, the Brady bunch says that collapsable stocks account for nearly 20,000 a year.
On the serious side, has there ever been a crime committed by a bayonet on a rifle?

i have been castigated and reviled on this forum many times
for my views. i do not pay my fed tax, haven't for years.
i don't know why people on either side put any faith
in the republican or the democratic party. they are the
tail and the head of a dragon which wants to eat everything.
neither party upholds the constitution and haven't for
years. both parties are my enemy. they are the enemies of freedom and of a constiutional government. this country died some time ago, it just doesn't recognize that it is dead.
i advise each of you on this forum who are truly patriots to
actively defy this or any other government which is operating extra constitutionally. i mean defy it. don't pay your taxes, go out and stock up on illegal firearms and
ammo. the time is coming soon for revolution.
i will not go into the night without a fight.
how about the rest of yah?
oh by the way moderators i don't give a crap if you ban me from posting until hell freezes over, but have the cojones to post this and not delete it.

Speaking of nothing to lose, during WWII the Phillipine guerilla fighters who had lost their whole families to the Japanese and literally had nothing left to lose were some of the fiercest and most feared fighters in the war.

she failed to mention the fact that it is being pointed at the center mass of a us citizen and a frightened 8 year old boy, non threateningly of course...

I believe it was the bill to prevent the suing of gun manufacturers. Rep. Paul correctly interpreted that it was not a Constitutional prerogative of the federal government to make such a law. I can understand and respect where Ron Paul is coming from, but I would disagree with him here. The stated intention of these lawsuits is to interfere with interstate commerce. Since Congress' authority over interstate commerce was intended to prevent states (or their subordinate entities) from interfering with interstate commerce, passing legislation to do precisely that would seem well within Congress' I.8 powers.

Don't even mention flash suppressors, they triple a rifle's velocity.
Unless the flash holes on the bottom are filled in, then it's a "muzzle compensator" and perfectly harmless.

Half of the game of politics is guile and the other half is patience.I guess that's why I hate politics so much. I have little guile and less than moderate patience. I much prefer the straight dealings or Ronnie Reagan. I could never be a politician because the first time some smarmy, self righteous, pissant, left wing politian started lying to me, I would bust him/her up side the head and then kick their fat commie ass all over the capitol building.
