Assault Weapons Ban : not any more - its way worse.
NRA ^

Posted on 05/12/2003 4:56:44 PM PDT by OOPisforLiberals

All you anti-AWB people : listen closely. The "extended" assault weapons ban would ban TONS of guns, including ALL semi-automatic shotguns, ALL shotguns that hold < 5 rounds, M1 Garand, Mini-14, ALL semi-autos that can have > 10 rounds with or without fixed magazine.

Gives the attorney general the ability to declare a gun "not sporting" and subsequently ban it.

That's right folks, its the big one. They want 'em all. -Still- feel playing complacent about them not taking away your guns? If this goes through, handguns are toast in <= 5 years. 30 caliber rifles next. Then, there's not much left.

Its bad.

Even the NRA, as concilliatory as it has seemed, cannot go for ballistic fingerprinting. The Maryland experiment has shown that it simply does not work, and I for one would never send another dime to any organization which backed what is really simply a gun registration scam.

If the NRA wishes to continue to exist, the organization will continue to oppose such nonsense, as it has in the past.

If these bills pass, you can be arrested and imprisoned for 10 years just for having the folding stock in your posession along with the rifle. You don't have to assemble it.

I am one that believes that the Interstate Commerce Clause is sorely abused.

Yes, but wasn't one of the primary purposes to prevent states from interfering with interstate commerce?

I won't vote for anyone signing onto anti-RKBA legislation. Millions of gun owners agree.

I haven't voted for Democrats or Republicans since Dole gave us the Brady Bill. (flame away pubbies, I'll start voting your way when you start representing my side). Problem is that most of those who say they will not vote for gun controll Republicans (or all of the other liberal things the pubbies seem to endorse nowdays) always end up voting for them anyway. It's the lesser of evils rationalization. But the lesser of evils is still evil, and sometimes it's very evil.

Sen. Clinton calls for national social-services hot line

By Jim Fitzgerald, Associated Press, 5/12/2003 18:17

RYE BROOK, N.Y. (AP) Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton announced Monday that she is sponsoring a bill that would help people throughout the country find the social services they need from Meals on Wheels to housing just by calling 211. ''Someone could call and say, `I need child care' or `I need job training' or `I need affordable housing' and we could direct them to not-for-profit agencies that can address the problem,'' the New York Democrat said...

This idiot is a Senator. Unbelievable.

Bush only said he would reauthorize the current law if it reaches his desk. He has left himself wiggle room to refuse it if there is one more ink spot in it than before.

And if he signs this expanded abomination that makes all our guns illegal, then I too will join the Bush bashers. I will get active and let my Congress critters know how I feel about this, and I won't slip into depression and negativity at this point. There are oh so many ways this rancid law can die before it reaches the President's desk...

A number of years ago, (when it was still legal) i bought a folding stock for my SKS and a 30 round clip, the gun came with a bayonet also. When i hooked all this stuff up immediately the gun jumped out of my hands and bagan fireing wildly, it jumped in the car and took off, luckyly the car was out of gas. I took the folding stock off so now it will no longer fire. Thank God for the assault weapons ban.

Did you either acquire the SKS before 1990, or is the 30rd mag the 'fixed' sort?

IF THIS IS SIGNED INTO LAW, I WILL AUTOMATICALLY DECIDE THAT MY LIFE HAS NO VALUE... AND ACT ACCORDINGLY.

Envision it in action.

Two one one. All our lines are busy at the moment.. Please hold for the next available operator. Do not hang up. Your call will be answered in the order in which it was received.

(message repeats in Spanish, Urdu, Bosnian, Swahilli, Basque, Navajo, Mitchiff, Greek, Latin, Aramaic, pig latin,....) Hideous elevator music follows.....

2 hours later...(unintelligable human? voice)...(unintelligable human? voice repeats)....CLICK.....

Operator comes on (standard phone co. recording...)If you would like to make a call....

No telling who would be answereing the phone, or if they would be answering the phone. Heck, I have trouble with understanding a lot of telemarketers now.

Doesn't take much to see how bad this idea is.

Thanks for the ping on this one.

There is one basic fact, though, that we are going to have to face up to, and that is that a lot of the pro-firearms people talk the talk, but don't walk the walk, even to the polling booth.

There was a thread on here recently, that was talking about Kalifornia firearms owners, and the fact that THEY DON'T VOTE.

While I can see the fatalistic attitude of a lot of people out there, given the massive liberal vote, they feel "What the hell, it doesn't matter if I vote or not, cause the *&^^%&* liberals are going to get in anyway, this attiude does not bode well for our cause. It is IMPERATIVE that each and every firearms owner not only register to vote, and vote pro-firearm every time, but make sure that others register and vote as well.

Right now, these bills are going to start coming fast and furious, and the media is going to be reporting EACH AND EVERY shooting that occurs, and spin the hell out of it. You are going to see only one side of the news, and even if you can recognize what actually happened, you are not going to hear, see, or read it in any national media.

It is important, therefore, to realize that if we are going to prevail in this, then we have to stop making one basic error, that I see happen time after time, and that is "PREACHING TO THE CHOIR". It is ok to discuss and debate with those of like thought, but we HAVE TO GET THE MESSAGE OUT TO THE PUBLIC!. No, this is not easy, and it just keeps getting worse, but we HAVE TO GET THE MESSAGE OUT. It is imperative not only to get our message out, but to attack full on at any of the "co-enablers" (NEA, AMA, ABA, A lot of misguided LEO's who are stuck with having to support this nonsence because their superiors want the pork to flow in to underfunded departments.)

Try to talk to at least 5 people every day about this, get into debates, hell, get into arguments, but hammer, hammer, hammer. Be up to date with your info. Liberals don't have info, they use statistics. How do you know you've won a point? Easy, once you have a liberal reduced to quoting the same statement 10 times in a row (9 kids a day, "for the chilrun", etc etc), you KNOW you have them going close to the edge. At that point, simply turn to whoever else is present and EXPOSE THE LIBERAL FOR WHAT THEY ARE, mindless automatons who live in fantasyland, and who simply can't function in the real world, because to admit reality, would completely negate their liberal philosophy. They can't take care of themselves, their offspring, or their world, so they try to legislate matters to make them feel that they have done their part to turn the world into a place with rounded, flexible corners, which can't possibly hurt. Again, keep hammering, make sure that everyone knows what the world is actually like. Shove reality right up in their face, until they are reduced to gibberish and talking to themselves, at which point, make sure that you call your local LEO's and report a possible mental case who is dangerous to themselves and others. [Huge Evil Grin].

Bottom line, take the campaign to them. Know your facts, know a lot of facts and reasoned debate, and use it, every day, the more you do the easier it gets.

Keep the Faith for Freedom

Greg
