Assault Weapons Ban : not any more - its way worse.
NRA ^

Posted on 05/12/2003 4:56:44 PM PDT by OOPisforLiberals

All you anti-AWB people : listen closely. The "extended" assault weapons ban would ban TONS of guns, including ALL semi-automatic shotguns, ALL shotguns that hold < 5 rounds, M1 Garand, Mini-14, ALL semi-autos that can have > 10 rounds with or without fixed magazine.

Gives the attorney general the ability to declare a gun "not sporting" and subsequently ban it.

That's right folks, its the big one. They want 'em all. -Still- feel playing complacent about them not taking away your guns? If this goes through, handguns are toast in <= 5 years. 30 caliber rifles next. Then, there's not much left.

Its bad.

I totally agree with you, and it is still very possible that Dubya fails to get re-elected and the RINO's lose the Congress.

I certainly plan that two years from now we may be living in a very different America.

I think you could be right. The economy is suffering badly from the massive export of jobs. That could play a crucial role in the election.

Incumbent leaders ain't gonna be popular if everyone is hurting financially.

"Its bad."

It's only bad if: a) it passes, and b) if you intend to abide by it.

Buy the best military-pattern, semi-auto rifle you can afford. Learn to shoot it and stock up on ammo.

If they're presented with a couple million more "assault rifle" owners to contend with, it'll give 'em something to think about.

On the serious side, has there ever been a crime committed by a bayonet on a rifle?

I don't know, but I once saw this guy on tv news swinging a samurai sword around for a few hours. They finally hit him with fire hoses and put him in a rubber suit.

Well if this comes to pass, I suggest that many of our fellow elected Republicans who are in Washington DC should start looking for a new job.

No, you have to re-elect them think of how much worse it would have been if Gore had been POTUS.

This aint gonna come to pass, though. Not yet.

He voted against protecting the gun manufacturers from the lawsuits that are designed to put them out of business.

Can we say "protecting Interstate Commerce", children?

We'll see. I remember people saying that several hundred gun laws ago...The incremental attacks on our freedoms, are no accident, IMHO.....

Mr Delay assures us it will never see the floor of the House in any form.

I remember, a while back, going to bed one night after hearing on the evening news that the Brady bill was dead. Then next thing I heard about it on the morning news was that it had been passed.

But in my lifetime, I fully expect to see well-near everything banned (I'm 27).

I expect to see it come about in my lifetime as well. (I'm 55)

*sigh* I left Kalifornia to get away from this garbage, now I see the finks down there are trying to impose it nationally. I am really getting irked with government pandering. I *hope* this is just a political game, elsewise we are in big BIG trouble. Hopefully, SCOTUS is still in a "power to the people" mood once the CA ban suit gets to them and they choose to hear it. It will precedent THIS piece of garbage out of existance.

It doesn't seem like a very good stategy to me to make enemies out of those that are in the best position to help.

What you say makes great sense. Let us pray it is true.

However, the usual anti- gun control ruckus absolutely be maintained, if not more ferverently, lest the Congresscritters get the idea that this issue won't cause them to look for a real job.

If we fail in that, the promises we have heard won't be worth what the usual Congressman's promise is worth...

"... No, you have to re-elect them ... think of how much worse it would have been if Gore had been POTUS."

I won't vote for anyone signing onto anti-RKBA legislation.

Millions of gun owners agree.

The GOP really needs to contemplate this.

Okay, I want all gun-grabbers strung up with piano wire. Maybe I'll settle for lifetime exile to Gitmo. See? We're not so difficult to work with.

Thanks as far as I am now concerned they are all in cahoots with each other. The sooner we wake up the better off we will be. MANY MANY Republicans are as bad as the rats!

I am sick and tired of trying to hold the republicans feet to the fire.

;;;;;;;;;;;From your link and Yep I see who is standing with Hillary Clinton. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, R, and to be forever linked with the rats.

,,

The bill, co-sponsored by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, R-Texas, would provide $200 million to launch the service, including $4 million for New York. Clinton expressed some doubt Monday that the full amount would become law, but she said she's hopeful for ''at least a good down payment.''
