There are going to be a lot of disappointed "German-bound" U.S. soldiers who have spent nearly their entire careers in Germany. I know of Warrant Officers and senior NCOs who married Germany women, raised their children in German schools, and are hardly distinguishable from German citizens when they are not in uniform. Not that I approve of what they have done, but it will be interesting to see the outcry!

Better not be an outcry.

This is not an entitlement program - it's a matter of national security.

They are still Americans, and although I'm sure you're right, it's time for this move regardless. Germany obviously no longer needs nor wants our protection. It seems they are more interested in creating a new force with their (invaders-oops)allies the French, so as to oppose US interests.
