If your sole source is Leahy, I'll wait before slamming Frist.

Did you miss yesterday where they confirmed a WHITE MAN, thus bypassing Estrada and Owens?

Lighten up.

What are you talking about? The guy Frist is about to get confirmed was originally a Reagan appointee and Bush is promoting him. Any conservative we can get through is great. That would be 2 conservative Circuit court nominees in one week. That would be quite a week.

Can't anyone do an "Abner Louima" on Frist and give him a toilet plunger to replace the backbone he obviously no longer has?

I don't get the strategy here. "Getting a hispanic" who doesn't reflect sound judicial sense, is worse than none at all. My wife and I were profoundly moved by Estrada's life story--quintisentially American. Fighting for him, a Hispanic, instead of yielding to another less qualified candidate, would be dishonest and would also yield NO benefits in the Latino community in 2004. We need to FIGHT for Estrada...THAT and only that will be respected.

Right, the emphasis is on CONSERVATIVE, not Hispanic. Conservatives are blind to color & can see right through a liberal in sheep's clothing, hispanic or otherwise.

Dubya's cutting Frist a little slack - for a little while. Bet the Prez doesn't have infinite patience. Sooner or later, the MJ is going to actually have to show some real leadership or he'll have an interesting meeting with The Dubya.

Frist is operating at a distinct disadvantage, though. He is a gentleman.

First of all, Prado, who is the one who is about to be confirmed, has been nominated for a different court than Estrada. Estrada has not been pulled. Second, Prado is just as conservative and qualified as Estrada. It is sad when people post things like Frist is caving when he is actually winning.
